BOT thought Thursday alone would exceed $20m, let’s see…

 Re: Superman weekend thread
Doesn't seem spectacular. Marvel will probably win again.
I don't even know who the villain is in this one in terms of the one fighting Superman, not Lex. Silver Surfer looks increasingly cool in comparison.

 Re: Superman weekend thread
Still can't believe Endgame did 60 mil previews. Can Marvel or Star Wars get to that level of popularity again? Maybe with Secret Wars.
19.7 Thursday without Tuesday Amazon shows. Should be good for 125 or so opening. Worldwide numbers seem to be struggling.

 Re: Superman weekend thread
Comic book fatigue is very real. This is getting great WOM so it should over perform.
In 2006 or 2013, this movies marketing and reception would make it a top 10 all time opening challenger, not today.

 Re: Superman weekend thread
This could have been a disaster. Opening to $120m in this current state of superhero movies is good.

Depending on walkups over the weekend, 130m OW is in play.

 Re: Superman weekend thread
Returns adjusted is 345 and Man of Steel 400. I think MOS remains the champ.

 Re: Superman weekend thread
Very different eras. This exact film released in 2013 would handily defeat MOS and obviously SR in 2006.
Superman 2 will have a lot more inherent demand coming off of this reception.

If Jurassic World outgrosses Superman then I will join Lexcorp, cause obviously he is more right about the nature of humanity than Kal-El.

 Re: Superman weekend thread
I think this movie being an allegory for the backlash against the immigration crackdown in this country will help boost it above the typical Superhero fatigue plaguing the 2020s

This film was shot before Trump won the election, how could it be about that?

 Re: Superman weekend thread
In a stunning turn of Events, Jurassic is going to have a better hold against Superman than F1 did against Jurassic.
It’s actually going to have one of the best second weekend hold for a film that had a 100m opener in its second weekend. It’s going to hold better than Twisters did against Deadpool last year.

Deadline saying $56m, $33.5m true Friday. Just under The Batman's $56.6m.

Think having burned "demand" with Wednesday opening and no Imax helped the drop but it doing $300m+ domestic shows the franchise is fine.

Still looking around 120. Don't think it will reach Man of Steel 128 opening.
