Re: What are you watching right now?
Recently finished:
Arrow S1 (B+) Arrow S2 (B+) Young Justice S1 (A-) Young Justice S2 - Invasion (A-) Young Justice S3 - Outsiders (A)
Arrow has been consistently good, but there are some episodes where I do find a lack of interest and sort of want them to hurry up with progressing the story. But like I said, it's good, so I'll continue it.
The 6 year wait for Season 3 that early fans of Young Justice had to endure must have been awful, especially knowing it was canceled due to low toy sales (...) and thinking it was possibly never coming back. Thankfully Warner Bros. renewed it for DC Universe though, because they were able to make everything better, really, without having to work around the confines of Cartoon Network (at least from ~10 years ago). They fleshed out the returning characters more, added more complex new characters, and introduced more mature themes. And while the writing was always good (if restricted a bit, notably in S2), not being as limited now allowed them to improve there as well. It ended up being a positive that it was canceled.
Excited for Season 4 to debut on HBO Max in October.
Currently watching:
Arrow S3 (2/23): Similar feelings as the first two seasons so far. Good, but wanting a little more. Harley Quinn S1 (5/13): Excellent so far. Definitely going to finish it (and season two) pretty quick. I was worried with Kayley Cuoco being Harley here (seemed like a "we need a bigger celebrity name!" choice), but she's been very good.

I watched the first two episodes of "Only Murders In The Building" tonight. Loving it so far.

Re: What are you watching right now?
Going to try knocking out Fleabag - pretty solid so far (like the awkward moments) although I'm looking forward to the priest season more
I don't have a lot of faith in Hulu originals but I'll be checking out Only Murders in the Building for Steve Martin, it's about time he dropped a random TV series or something

Re: What are you watching right now?
"The Other Two" is only four episodes into its second season but it is already flawless and iconic. I've been screaming laughing over every episode. The last two were gold.

Re: What are you watching right now?
I liked The White Lotus, but something about the end felt off to me. I figured out that Doddario wasn’t going to be the one to die Pretty early on so that wasn’t a big deal. But they still went with a tragic ending anyways instead of the more comedic choice of Stifler’s mom’s new boyfriend. So, in the end, The White Lotus ended up being a show about privilege, written and performed by people with privilege for an audience of privileged people who want to feel like they are less privileged than other privileged people. It was like the entire series was written by Olivia. Still would recommend though. Just don’t expect the groundbreaking progressive work that people on the internet have lead us to believe it is.

Isn't pointing out this hypocrisy kind of the point though? Olivia and Paula are possibly worse people than Shane in reality.

Yeah but the writers/producers/core audience did not seem to understand the hypocrisy extended to themselves and not just the characters on the show. At least that is how it came across to me.

I won't lie and said I spent a lot of effort thinking about the philosophy of the show (I assume there's a reason the girls were reading books like Freud and Neitzche and that it connects into what Steve Zahn was trying to say about monkey brains). I just liked seeing pretty people in Hawaii be deluded about themselves. I agree if it was trying to make some post-woke commentary on privilege it may not have totally gotten there.

Y: The Last Man’s reviews are kinda meh. Seems like they went for a Walking Dead vibe instead of a brighter/more optimistic apocalypse like in the comics. Hopefully it will course correct in time.

Re: What are you watching right now?
I watched the first Scenes From a Marriage. I understand what they're going for, but... I think I found a genre I'm just not into: bad marriage torture porn. It didn't work for me. I'm all for a depressing look at life, but this is too depressing. And the other couple they show. Do people really talk like this? I don't live in a big city environment so I don't interact with these types at all.

Re: What are you watching right now?
I will finish Nine Perfect Strangers as I’m halfway through and was keeping up week to week until ep 4, but man this should’ve been better with this cast. I adore Melissa and Nicole and they’re slaying along with most of the rest of the cast but not much is happening here, very disappointed.

Hacks - enjoyable enough to keep watching mainly due to the two leads.

Re: What are you watching right now?
HBO Max is far and away the best streaming service right now in terms of output. In terms of the library content it obviously excels but their originals are just absolutely crushing it. Between the HBO content with "Mare of Easttown" and "The White Lotus" and their originals such as "Hacks," "Search Party," "The Other Two" and even "Gossip Girl" (not to mention the flawless "It's A Sin" miniseries) they are at the forefront at the moment of top-tier bingeable content.
Other than "GG" I think all of the above mentioned series will be on my year end best list for TV.

I didn’t really like the first episode of Hacks. The Other Two was very funny though.

Re: What are you watching right now?
I did the pilot of "The Big Leap." I enjoyed it a lot actually. It's very hard for broadcast shows to keep my attention these days but I'll stick with it for a bit.

I would check out The Big Leap but ratings are bad so I don't think I should bother getting invested.

The Morning Show - Aniston and Crudup are clearly the best parts, not sure I like it otherwise
