Well we don't have Disney Plus in Singapore so I'm hoping we'll get the movie around Sep 4th. That's good news.

Mulan will see theatrical releases where available and allowed. This is big news. An even bigger deal would be films going PVOD outside of the closed Disney+ universe (i.e. Quiet Place 2, Wonder Woman 2, etc.) ala Trolls.

I expect other studios following suit in the coming weeks.

I am thinking end of September is when we'll see shorter theatrical window and faster VOD release

I think everyone is already know the context of this video. I just want to point out how I love when Tenet poster appears after Mulan poster was destroyed.

Yeah I don't get it either. Mulan will definitely make more in China alone to make for VOD deficit in other countries.

pookpooi is too excited for Nolan and Tenet it seems. I don't support WB and Nolan's decision to force a theatrical release for countries where its not safe yet. Also are theaters running in France? If the theaters are operational I'm sure Disney will release Mulan in theaters even if it's released on D+ simultaneously.

It's actually cinema that force itself upon Tenet release date, I just read this Indiewire news, look like cinema make a promise to stockholder to open in time for Tenet, and stockholder will sue cinema if it breaks the promise. The one who has a power to open or close cinema is actually the authority/government/politician/regulator/etc. and the one who do the lobby job is cinema association, not the studio.

In my opinion, the area that is not safe should not open the cinema, but the safe area MUST NOT have to wait for other areas.

And yes, cinema is running in France, it even mentioned in the article, and look like Disney won't release Mulan in cinema if that area has D+, at least for now, but Disney could change the decision if many cinema owners get angry.

It's too early in their decision process but I guess with just the blockbusters in their schedule they would have to try with some blockbuster and I think it's better to do with Mulan now than Black widow. All other studios including WB has experimented with VOD and I don't hear theater owners complaining about SCOOB!

Mulan glorifies a Chinese leading lady and with the current climate it might not be financially successful regardless but VOD sort of gives it an excuse.

I understand D wanting to avoid releasing Mulan in the theater when few are open and the future uncertain. I think they should give us the choice though for theaters that are open. I would certainly pay $30+ for a ticket and snacks to see it on the big screen. I will not pay that to watch it at home.
