Re: #Reputation / My My My My Lover
My ranking would probably be...
1. Lover (has totally grown on me) 2. Cruel Summer 3. Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince 4. I Think He Knows 5. The Man 6. London Boy 7. Paper Rings 8. I Forgot You Existed 9. Cornelia Street 10. Death By a Thousand Cuts 11. False God 12. You Need to Calm Down 13. Afterglow 14. Soon You'll Get Better 15. Me! 16. The Archer 17. It's Nice to Have a Friend 18. Daylight

Re: #Reputation / My My My My Lover
"The Archer" is my favourite thing here. Might be her best lyric ever.
"False God", "It's Nice to Have a Friend" (it's like a fable, totally new for her, incredible), "Lover", "Death by a Thousand Cuts", "Daylight" are my other faves.

Cruel Summer still slaps but The Man grew the fuck up on me.
Probs my fave two songs since 1989

Melllowww.
I’m enjoying it though. Cardigan is great. Exile has a cool ending.

Felt very samey after awhile, but still good. I don’t think I could even do a full list since I’ve already forgotten many of the songs though. cardigan, betty, exile, mad woman and seven were my favorites.

Folklore is so boring in first listen. I listened to the whole thing but lost interest after cardigan.

94 on metacritic. Could get her to third AOTY if the secret committee lets her in this year.

Taylor getting great reviews everywhere. Flava flipping over the review and soon over the album. Seems like a pattern

Re: #Reputation / My My My My Lover / Folkbore
After three listens the album is growing on me. It helps when you break it up into 3/4 songs a time. That's still not the type of review I want to give a Taylor album, and will keep the Folkbore name in the thread title, but still ... Having eight very good songs is way more than the usual pop release.
1. exile 2. cardigan 3. seven 4. betty 5. hoax 6. mad woman 7. invisible string 8. tha 1 9. my tears ricochet
the rest still aren't worth ranking, but maybe they will be someday.

I'd say the least shocking thing would be pointing out that Pink's highest score is 77 and she has zero album of the year nominations. Or that Britney's highest score is 72 and she has zero album of the year nominations.

So one song is more important than many? Doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. It’s like saying some people care about trailers, not movies.

Unless you’re a huge fan of an artist, the general public hasn’t heard their albums. Taylor clearly has a lot of die hards that stream her whole albums. They just aren’t here at KJ. I’m a huge Katy Perry fan, but I only really listen to her singles. Same with Pink, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga. Even for them I only listen to the album when it first comes out. A few years later I only listen to the singles still.

Lmao zwackerm, he was discussing critical acclaim not album vs singles. Which yeah, Pink had the better singles and albums but flava still isn't ready for that conversation

I guess I just don't understand why you would not want to listen to as many songs as possible from the artists you like. Wouldn't it make more sense to choose your own favorites rather than letting the record labels do it for you? Singles are basically just commercials to try and get you to listen to the rest of the album and maybe throw some bucks in for concert tickets, merch, etc... I wouldn't consider anyone to be a favorite unless they have at least three really strong albums. That shows that they make great music rather than just have great music made for them.

Saw a cool quote about this album. "When you become the indie record that's much cooler than you. That's called range." So true.

I can look at this point of view but putting down other artists because the one you like has more critical fame and award wins/nomination is childish (your posts/points have grown more so recently). Its like saying Tom Hanks has done poorer work in comparison to others (of his era). Awards and fame are completely different and a lot depends on how you market yourself and you need a little bit luck along with other factors like personal life, priorities etc...
