I expect those kind of crappy errors off his backhand, but on his forehand which is supposed to be one of the best shots in tennis? Horrible.

Considering how crappy Federer is playing, and he's still deep into the fifth set at the Wimbledon final, I'd say that's pretty impressive.

Man he is happy. :funny:

I'm glad he won, it's good to not have the same person winning all the time.

Yeah, I'm trying to think of another mens tennis match that I've seen that could compare to that...Not really thinking of any.

Aww man, i just got back, i heard who won over the radio a few moments ago, i missed it.
Anyway, great match for sure, Congrats to Nadal, and so Spain wins another important sport event, and their basketball team is also damn good, they could do well in the olympics, but there im Rooting for P.R of course.

I was cheering for Roger, but great match regardless!

Now I can finally let go of the memory of missing the Ivanisevic vs Rafter final 7 years ago. It haunted me every Wimbledon. :tears:

Congrats Nadal! Well-deserved would be an understatement. Roger showed why he was the champion with some ridiculous shots of his own, but could never get a real good shot at a break.

Yeah, definitely greatest match I've ever seen, either live or through classic replay. And considering this rivalry should continue for at least 2-3 years, this is going to be one of the most exciting times in tennis. Can't wait for U.S. Open and see how Nadal now adjusts to hard surface.

WOW

I have to agree with John that this was the best match I've seen and the most memorable. Now my tennis viewing only goes to the early 90s but up until today there have been more than a few memorable matches or 3rd sets or 5ths sets but this was just amazing. We had so much drama involved and outside forces involved. Unbelievable tension and nerve wracking feelings where every ball and break point was stomach churning. I'm so glad to have been able to watch this today.

Cheers to Federer for once again showing his endless class and of course he'll win this title again because he wasn't that far off from winning this today. Is he still #1 in everyones eyes? Probably not, but he's at least #1.5.

Cheers to Nadal for doing what hasn't been done in 28 years and just displaying amazing tennis and focus and determination in not letting those two extremely close tie breaks wear him down. It was a very impressive showing.

TERRIFIC match. Nadal deserved it so much, and I love how Federer said he deserved it too.

Serena, Venus draw best number in three years

The Saturday faceoff between Serena and Venus Williams drew the best overnight rating for a Wimbledon women’s final in three years.

The match, won by Venus in straight sets, posted a 3.4 rating/10 share, a 21% increase over last year’s final between Venus Williams and Marion Bartoli, also won by Williams. It peaked toward the end with a 5.1/15.

The match was most popular in the Williams sisters’ home town of West Palm Beach, where it drew a 6.8/17.

The 3.4/10 mark is the highest since the 4.0/12 posted by the 2005 by another final between two Americans, Venus Williams and Lindsay Davenport.

So now that Nadal has 5 major titles of his own, does anyone else think that he could actually challenge for most major titles overall regardless of what # that Federer finishes at?

Let's examine this a bit. Nadal has 4 FO and it doesn't look like he's going to lose there anytime soon when the #1 player in the world can't even take him to 5 let alone 4 sets anymore. Now, he has a Wimbledon title of his own and that on top of reaching the finals the previous two years. He's like Sampras in reverse. Instead of winning Wimbledon and the US every year it will be the French and Wimbledon.

So to recap, Nadal has 5 majors and he's just 22, maybe just turned 23. If he just played five more years and won 3 FO title's then that's 8 and a couple more Wimbledon's trading with Federer then that's 10 and throw in a Australian and maybe a US Open and that's 12. Not quite passing Federer but I think Nadal could seriously be one of the greatest players ever after today's win.

I think he'll get up there, but because he relys so much on being ridiculously fit, I could see him wearing down by 25-26.
