Meh, I actually don't like the idea of bonus points. It would be damn hard for me to get some of those movies.

Hopefully some other lists than Oscar ones.

l gotta agree...gives some people unfair advantage, imo...someone who has 1500 dvds, for example, will have a much easier time getting lots of points. and personally, l want to arrange what movies l see around what l WANT to see...not what l feel obligated to see if l have any chance of winning. But, oh well...it gives me an opportunity to keep my viewing log thing updated, so that's good...:oops:

For the bonus lists, can we have movies other than Academy Award-type movies?

Alien Vs. Predator- B

I finally got around to seeing the movie proclaimed by BKB to be a masterpiece. While it was no masterpiece it was an enjoyable film. I actually enjoy some of Paul Anderson's other movies including Mortal Kombat among others. The FX were pretty good and the story was decent. The climatic fight scene between the predator and "mother" alien was anti-climatic and too short. The ending on the ship left open room for a sequel, but I don't think we'll ever see one greenlighted. So if you can turn off your brain you might have some fun.

NOTE: I have never seen any of the other Alien or Predator movies.

Y'all passed.

I'm not the wicked witch of Washington D.C., ya know...That spot is reserved for my Physics teacher, and, if you happen to disagree, you ought to be put in a room subject to three things for 72 hours: 1) The Barney TV Show Theme. 2) The first track on "Dark Side of the Moon". 3) The Woody the Woodpecker Theme.

I don't think I have an advantage. I still have to actually watch the films. If anything, I might get more questions to make sure I'm really watching the films instead of just listing titles from my collection.

And like I said to Dolce in the other thread, out of all the foreign films on her bonus list, I only own 2. I have more nominees, honorary winners, and random O.O.P Criterion than actual winners.

I might get thrown a real curveball with an upcoming list (hopefully not).

The only real advantage I have is that between my dvd collection, tivo, and On Demand server, I don't need to rent anything to have several films to watch per day for the duration of the contest.

well, l wasnt trying to single you out, or anything...it's just in general all the bonus points seem to only increase the desire to watch certain films to gain points; like l said, l'd rather watch what l want, because l want to, not in order to win. But, if l watch only what l want to, the most pts l;ll get is like 5-10 per day. oh well, l'm rambling. and l shouldnt really complain, as dolce sprang that "Best foreign film" bonus thing right after l watched Nowhere in Africa. so. whatever, it should be fun regardless. :oops: :) :up:

As they say in New Zealand, No Worries :razz: (maybe Cian can explain the popularity of that phrase one day)

I also think the Oscar bonus lists are timed to coincide with the show. I'm sure other random threads are coming up.

Worst Movies...Ever (Bonus Points)
This list was compiled based on IMDB.com's Bottom 100 list. Each film is assigned a point value based on their average user score

1. From Justin to Kelley (13 pts.)
2. Future War (13 pts.)
3. Alone in the Dark (12 pts.)
4. You Got Served (11 pts.)
5. Santa With Muscles (11 pts.)
6. Glitter (10 pts.)
7. Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 (10 pts.)
8. Gigli (8 pts.)
9. House of the Dead (7 pts.)

10. Battlefield Earth: A Saga of the Year 3000 (6 pts.)

I'm willing to sit through the highlighted for bonus points. I have never seen Gigli, so this is my excuse for watching it and seeing how "bad" this movie really is.

* 1993 - Schindler's List (17 pts.)
* 1994 - Forrest Gump (16 pts.)
* 1995 - Braveheart (15 pts.)

* 1996 - The English Patient (13 pts.)
* 1997 - Titanic (11 pts.)
* 1998 - Shakespeare in Love (11 pts.)
* 1999 - American Beauty (11 pts.)
* 2000 - Gladiator (9 pts.)

I'll try to watch the highlighted ones sometime during this game.
