The 'SNL' Thread (Season 31)
I think it's season 31, anyway.
I hope this season is an improvement over recent seasons, and I really hope Tina and Amy stop giggling so much during the news. I don't think the news has been nearly as funny since Jimmy Fallon left, and it's not like he was haha funny, it's just that it worked much better with him as a co-anchor.
Does anybody watch this show anymore?

Well, you won't have Tina Fey for a while on Weekend Update. She's on maternity leave.

She's not a lesbian? Wow.
I highly doubt this season will somehow get any bettter then the older version yet I still cross my fingers and hope.

I did not know that. I wonder what they plan to do with Weekend Update.
What the hell is Steve Carrell talking about that not to many comedies make 100 million? Great little song for us box office fans, though.

I love Tina and Amy. I think some of the stuff is too American for me to get.
My favourite is Maya Rudolph. Shes effing hilarious. I think its been consistantly funny.

That looks like former SNL cast mate, Molly Shannon, sitting in the background airplane seat.

You don't like Tina and Amy giggling, but you want Jimmy back?

I hope Tina Fey comes back soon because I hate Horacio Sanz on Weekend Update.

I second that. I thought they'd go for the next best thing, not the worst.
I watched the first hour or so. Hit and miss, really. The Bush opener was okay, but not hilarious. I really like Will Forte, but he's no Will Ferrell, when it comes to Dubya. I'm kind of tired of the song-and-dance monologue that a lot of hosts seem to do. I was hoping for a celebrity to make a cameo in the monologue, but alas, I was let down. The best part was seeing Kanye West and Mike Myers. I thought that was hilarious. For once, SNL actually capitalizes on something recent in the news, without screwing it up completely.
I thought the "edgy" stuff they did was a little much. It's like they were saying "Hey look, we're making fun of Jet Blue and Katrina! We're cool!". The Jet Blue thing I didn't mind because it wasn't all that funny, but the Girls Gone Wild: Katrina was a little much. And again, stupid and unfunny. The only highlights from the first hour or so was Kanye and Mike, and Anderson Cooper 360. Everything else was too meh. But, it still seems like a step-up from last year.

That's what I thought too! I liked Steve on it. The bit with Kayne and Myers was awesome! I like the 2 new guys. That one Bill did a great Pachino impression. Tina is my favorite on the show who is still on. All time would be Farrel or Farley.

That Pacino impression was so good, it's creepy.

Looks like I'm going to have a fucking pickle of a time telling the difference between Bill Hader, Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis for the first few shows. I kind of know Hader by now, but Samberg and Sudeikis not so much. If they're playing themselves, sure I know them, but in costume, they're a little more difficult to identify.

Bill Hader especially seems like a step-up from the recent additions over the past two years. Rob Riggle was never a standout, but he had potential. Unfortunately, he's gone. I don't mind Kenan Thompson and Finesse Mitchell, but they do the "I'm black" gag way too often. Not to mention Finesse pratically lives off of his "My name is Finesse, not Kenan" thing.

Expect no fewer than thirty-eight jokes about Ashlee's first performance last season.
But in all seriousness, I wouldn't be surprised to see her either in the cold opening (the sketch before the credits) or in another pre-musical guest skit like last week with Kanye West and Mike Myers, where she starts talking to someone, and her lips stop moving but she's still talking. Or something. It'll happen, we all know it.

So is Ashlee the host, musical guest, or both?

Ashlee is just the musical guest. Jon Heder (that guy who played Napolean Dynamite) is hosting. Yay for us.

If the 4th Grade Science Fair is what they picked as the first sketch, I can't wait to see what's next.
Edit: Oh, Werewolf sketch.
Maybe it's just me, but the thing with the first two shows so far, is that the new cast members have been funnier than the one's who have been on the show for awhile.
