Post House of Flying Daggers: Why Limited?
Hero had an opening of 18 Million Dollars, yet the studio burns HOFD in limited release. Can anyone explain me, why they didn't invest in marketing and pushed it into 2000 theatres like Hero? I think that is just a bad release strategy...

I believe that it is going wide this month. I'm not sure why it started as a limited release though.

Yeah, but with a per theatre average of $4,500 in limited release the plan probably backfired

It's all about the marketing. From the director of Hero would be enough to sell it, throw in a few of the gorgeous motives from the movie and you easily can make 10 Million on opening weekend, especially with no competition...
