A smaller sunday drop (especially one THAT small) in context with the enormity of the Sat. indicates that it shows large family appeal, and thus means a fairly small Monday drop.
As for the midnights, POTC2's were during the Summer. This one isn't going to have the luxury. There's just no way it'll be nearly 250% larger.

Here's what the set-up of the premiere for a HUGE movie looks like:
It's VERY VERY VERY impressive! I'm gonna go to Disneyland sometime in the next week to see it all in person!
The bleachers along the Rivers of America:
The Screen on the island with the front of the Black Pearl under construction (Splash Mountain is that thing to the left):
And another angle for good measure!
Here's a promo of a new experience that is opening on the island behind the screen...
Pretty cool stuff!

A little higher than The Day After Tomorrow.
But you're right. I might have lowballed it. It died off quickly, Pirates does have staying power.

Soundtrack for this movie is AWEsome
BTW I think this info from imdb.com is nuts!!!
Quote: Don’t worry if you can’t get to the 8 p.m. May 24 debut showing of “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.â€Â
You’ll have about 30 hours to see it.
Phoenix Theatres will keep the doors open at Farmington Hills West River Center location, 9 Mile west of Middlebelt, all night long for the epic pirate film.
Prices are $8, $5.50 children, $5 senior citizens, and $5.50 for matinee showings until 6 p.m.

The KC Phoenix isn't doing an all-nighter, but they've certain got enough showings for Thursday... Starting at 8pm, they've got a showing for each half hour up to Midnight.
Of course, I don't expect any of those to be sold out, except maybe the midnight. Why? 'Cause that theater is all the way over in the Legends area, which is a bit of a drive for people in most of the metro area. Plus, tickets there are $9 whereas any of the AMC's around here will be $6 (because Mon-Thu are $6 for any showtime at AMC).
So, yeah, I think the midnights are going to do just as well as if there weren't any 8pms... I just don't see the 8pms being incredibly busy.
Although... I'm tempted to buy a ticket for the 8pm AND midnight... I really am eager to see the movie as early as I can....

WE GOT RANDY MOSS!! wrote: LOL corpse hse is no way of predicting movies.
if the 8-12 pm thursday showings are counted to friday the saturday drop will exceed 30%
FINAL PREDICTIONS
THUR 8-12: 21 million FRIDAY: 37 million SATURDAY:41 million SUNDAY:37 MON=26.7
See, if sneaks are not counted to Friday, the film shall rise on Saturday for sure.
BUT if sneaks are counted to Friday, itll drop around 50% n Saturday,
OPENING WEEKEND w/o sneaks=115 Opening weekend with sneaks=136 million
4 day w/o sneaks=142 million 4 day wioth sneaks=162 million
total-315 million, 3rd in the summer race. Yes, this shall drop like a rock.
ew, perhaps the worst prediction ever.

two me it appears the effects are great, the action is great and humour is great but the story is crap...
Well that is most blockbuster films in the last two years.
The last blockbuster with good action and a good story was really ROTS...

The first says it's better than the 2nd, and not as good as the first.
The second says it's darker than the last 2, but too long.
Still nothing too bad about it

book wrote: The first says it's better than the 2nd, and not as good as the first. Contrived and overlong he calls it. Better than the 2nd only demonstrates how much he wasn't a fan of POTC2. Granted, he still seemed to have enjoyed it having come in with low expectations, so yes, nothing all that bad. book wrote: The second says it's darker than the last 2, but too long. Darker as in lacking "the joy and fun of the first two" (according to the reviewer). book wrote: Still nothing too bad about it
That's why i wrote lukewarm and not bad.
The POTC franchise had its heyday (in terms of success) with POTC2, which benefited greatly from the original's WOM and pretty empty marketplace worldwide. POTC3 will gross less.

Meh. These reviews are better than many that DMC got. We can't expect every single person in the world to like it. It certainly didn't stop DMC.
