That was quite a good epsiode. Loved Michael's wishes for the women of the office.

They needed the full 40 minutes last night. Last night's episode started off poorly (I even bordline hated Michael at the beginning) but then picked up as soon as the men reached the women's bathroom (CREED!) and the women and Michael reached the mall. I also like the ending with Michael and Jan.

And Jan's a kinky whore.

I've just heard from multiple insiders that it's looking very likely that NBC will double the amount of The Office we'll get next season. I'm told it's looking like each episode will expand to be an hourlong; however, if that plan falls through for some reason, I'm hearing that, at the very least, NBC wants to pick up something like 37 episodes of the show in its current half-hour format.

Clearly, the Peacock execs are going bonkers for Michael Scott and his Dunder-Mifflin minions, as they should. But you gotta wonder if the cast and crew are up for such a demanding (albeit lucrative) challenge?

Also, assuming an expanded Office would remain on Thursday night, this move could leave Scrubs out in the cold. Still, ABC insiders tell me there is a slight chance the Alphabet net would pick up the Sacred Heart Gang if NBC were to cut them loose. It's not a sure thing, but it could be a possibility.

All will be revealed this Monday in NYC, when NBC reveals its fall schedule. (ABC's day is Tuesday, CBS is Wednesday, and Fox and the CW are on Thursday.)

I don't know how it can happen without hiring a bunch of new writers. And where will they find the shooting time? Don't they use up most of their time already shooting what they do?

I'm still against an hour-long Office. It's going to ruin the show. People will start complaining that the show has become way too long every episode. Expanding to an hour will be widely considered its "Jump the Shark" moment.

37 episodes is just ridiculous. Just give us 24 episodes at 30 minutes each. If you must, expand to an hour. But if you don't expand to an hour, don't do 37 episodes.

No I'm sure that what she was trying to say is they are going to expand it to an hour and do 24 (more or less) or leave it at half an hour and do 37. That's how it read to me.

No, I know. I mean that they should do 24 episodes at half-an-hour, not 37. I know it wouldn't be 37 at an hour-long. I'll accept an hour-long Office at 24 episodes, but if they don't do an hour, don't do 37 episodes at half-an-hour.

One thing that might be factoring in: there's a writer's strike looming for this summer. This is an already somewhat popular, inexpensive to produce show with a good team of writers. So maybe they are figuring it's needed to fill gaps.

I also wonder if somehow this is a way of Steve getting out of his contract early? Is that even possible?

Office Update: Agreement Reached on New Season

Ladies and gentletubers, there is a plan in place for The Office.

At least, that's what I'm now hearing from inside sources—that NBC reached an agreement late this afternoon with The Office for next season: 24 episodes, including 4 hour-long specials.

Obviously, this is a scaled-down version of the initial idea to make every episode an hour, but it's still good news for us fans, no?

Meanwhile, still no word on whether Scrubs will return next season. But I am hearing that NBC's Bionic Woman and the CW's Gossip Girl (from O.C. creator Josh Schwartz) are a go.

Well, that was a subpar episode. Still good for a few laughs, but over all, not the best. And Pam just made me uncomfortable.

I'm glad they're sticking to 30 minutes. I know the show seems short, but I just don't think an hour would work. It's very effective for half-an-hour, and it normally leaves us wanting more. If it's a subpar episode, then you don't have to wait long for it to end. There's a higher chance of viewers tuning out if the show is an hour-long, and the episode sucks.

Ya it was pretty average. Dwight on the coals = hilariously, but hard to watch it looked so painful!!!

I was surprised by how much I liked it, I normally cringe at the ones with openly emotional stuff this season, but this episode was funny and the dramatic parts flowed smoothly.

Wait, I just re-read the update on The Office next season. Does that mean there will be 24 episodes PLUS 4 hour-long specials? Or are the hour-long specials coming from the 24 episodes?

i liked the episode. Stanley's face was priceless. I still think the show is better when they keep it inside the office.
