I tend to alternate between Britney and Tom Waits.
It's true the music forum has become the haven for "OMG! Avril's new single RAWKS!" types, which I'm not opposed to (though I think Girlfriend far from RAWKS), but then, I fail to see what a new hardcore music forum would achive, apart from a "Foreign and Indie Film" style mini-status on the board.
Personally, I'd rather the pop-musicos (among whom I'd count myself on occasion) stuck in the Music forum, and the powers that be allowed the "proper" music folk to make threads in The Water Cooler.

as much as i'd like to see a seperation ... and i'm very much in andaroo's boat, i'm against the idea on principle. so probably no.
do what i do ... if you wanna alk about music, use the watercooler.
the music forum is for people with issues .. lots of issues. i would go as far as to say that KJ doesn't have a music forum.
it really doesnt. the title on it is wrong.
it really is

Then I recommend changing the title to "Pop Music Abyss (of Darkness)"

I'd second this.

I don't feel so bad. I also like Coldplay, AC/DC, and Bruce Springsteen. Those may or may not be approved by andaroo. I'm hoping for more approvals than disapprovals.

I rarely ever start a discussion. If there was a running Radiohead thread, I'd post in it.
I'd likely discuss when the hell the next CD will be released.

I don't see a problem here. It looks like a music thread takes at least 7 days to get off the front page. That's plenty of time for anyone interested to take a peek at it. If someone doesn't like all the pop threads, just ignore it.

I'd likely discuss when the hell the next CD will be released. I made a thread last summer about the Radiohead concert I attended. I think Roo was the only person to reply. And the thread was soon pushed off the earth by a mountain of crap.
Whoops. I was too envious to reply.

I smell a "Loyal-palooza" thread.

I went to The Who concert last month and didn't even want to post about it because of how much crap there is in that forum.

Its pretty much a rock and a hard place for me since my choice in music arent neither disposable american idol pop nor are they really the same type of heavily guitar driven alt metal rock that Andaroo listens to
I mean where would I and Nebs post if we list stuff like Blondie,Franz Ferdinald or Depeche Mode that doesnt really fit in well with both sides of the forum

I think andaroo is just being a little fucking retard to be honest, and any of you who agree with him are even worse. Rarely do other posters on this site make an effort to post in the music forums and it isn't because of the onslaught of Hilary Duck/Avril "shit". We debate in the music forum as just as you guys debate in your "Games" forum. I don't see a discussion about the latest Eye Toy game, but if someone were to start a thread this site would go into a frenzy. I think there are many voyeurs of the music section so if you think your discussion about a rock band from the 80s are important then fucking start one.
You people are just stupid and pathetic. gethelp.

Personally I love Blondie and Depeche mode and only own one Franz record.
Just because I like metal I never said I didn't like electronica. I don't like pop.

The only people on this site that need help is those that continue to support the celebrity of musicians rather than the actual music.

I don't contribute anything to this site. What is there to contribute? Why should I contribute? Are the people on this site going to grant me eternal life? I don't think so. And don't insult me with Sarah Michelle Gellar as an argument. I do talk about other things? Like the tv show Brothers & Sisters and how MTV should film my life. Like Hello! If I want to talk about Hilary Duff, its because I can. I say that with

There's nothing that says you guys have to enter the pop threads... The reason the tart discussion is ruling, is because they are creating much more discussion.
As for me... I don't really have a problem with good music, but I'm not a huge album buyer and listener like I am with dvds, I download the songs I like and listen on my Ipod, and I'll talk about the current singers that are making the headlines because they are. I love Kelly Clarkson and I love David Bowie(Radiohead sucks though), it makes no difference to me... I'll go where the discussion is regardless. For me because I don't make the effort with discovering new music, I generally discuss more about the news-worthy artists.
There could just as easily be a complaint for a musician-based and performer Music forum as well, I play music but since there isn't much discussion based around it, I don't bother trying.
