Person of the year is not the same thing as the goodiest person fo the year.

Adolf Hitler was once named person of the year, for instance.

He didn't stick to his guns. He signed stop-loss orders to force retired National Guardsmen to stick to their guns for him.

Yes, I think the private space exploration is a much bigger deal than who becomes president.

That's a good choice for a top contender. The problem is though that this year was so dominated by Iraq and the Election that we didn't get enough information on other things to make a good judgement. Bush was the right pick in terms of media time, but surely there must be other people who did far reaching things this year.

I'm sure they've done that an infinite amount of times before. That's the reserve they whip out for years when nothing has happened. :wink:
