 7th Heaven... on the CW.
Quote: CW resurrects '7th Heaven' Unclear which cast members will return By MICHAEL SCHNEIDER, JOSEF ADALIAN
Turns out "7th Heaven" has nine lives...
The long-running WB family drama, which aired its series finale on Monday, has been resurrected and will return for an 11th season next year. Fledgling net the CW, where the show will migrate, declined comment - but sources said a deal was in place.
It's unlear whether the entire current cast of "7th Heaven" will return next year. "7th Heaven" was the longest-running show on the Frog, as well as the longest-running family drama in TV history.
Brenda Hampton created "7th Heaven" and exec produces with Aaron Spelling and E. Duke Vincent. CBS Paramount Network TV declined comment on the pickup...

Someone has warmed up to Veronica Mars.
Anyway, the news isn't a complete shock, considering it's still a decent hit after ten seasons. But, it also can't go on forever... can it? I can see it lasting two seasons, depending on how well CW does. If it prospers, however, then 7th Heaven may not be necessary after a season.

If they bump Veronica Mars to make room for another endless season of this awful show, I will geek out.

I will be happy, only for the fact that this'll give them another year to come up with a REAL series finale. I don't even watch the show anymore, and I was disappointed in that finale. It was the most poorly written series finale I've seen thus far; it was NOT the way to say goodbye to your favorite characters (I mean, where the heck was Ruthie besides that sideplot with that horribly-accented waiter guy?).

Has something like this ever happened? A show aired what it advertised as the series finale only to be picked up for at least another season?

So I finally found the time to watch my downloaded One Tree Hill season finale, and I have to say that if that it doesn't get renewed and it just cuts off there, I will die. I guess it'd be a bit poetic, seeing how it cuts off in the middle of the "Oh fuck!" scene that is essentially the halfway point of the episode. There'd be no answer to what happens to the zillions of to be answered questions throughout the finale either, only your imagination. But still, I would die. It cannot just leave me with no answers and no resolution, it'd be flat out torture!

Ok, you know what??? If this is true, then the Cast of this show should be ashamed of themselves for even wanting to go back to this after they made such a stink out of the Series Finale and this being the longest drama on TV Garbage.. May a bolt of lightning strike the Camden Family if this is true..

I'm pretty sure that's happened before.
I can't recall any specific instances, but I think it has happened. With some sitcom that I don't remember.

I can only think of "Family Guy", but that was cancelled and picked up later on. Doesn't quite fit the category, but it's the closest I can think of.
An actual advertised series finale, then picked up later on? Can't think of one at all.

I just mean that many people call themselves Christians but use the Bible as a weapon and an excuse to hate others, which shouldn't be what being a Christian is about, therefore they are an insult to real Christians.
