She's been my role model since I first saw the film when I was 17. Gives me something to aspire to.

I can't wait until the day I fondle a baby tiger.

*sigh*

@Shad...yep. He did coin the word paprazzi, amongst other things. Open your eyes and Vanilla sky wouldn't exist if it weren't for 8 1/2.

Nooooooooo. I don't mean it like that. How dare one of you strikes down the 8 1/2 (admiitedly is only Fellini's 5th or 6th finest) with such slanderous remarks. I've never even seen Vanilla Sky. I thought someone said that it, Like Open Your Eyes had alot of dream sequences where the audiance would experience something in the character's mind and only realize it was a vision later?

8 1/2 was the first film to do that (that I know of). Its had infinite amount of scenes pertaining to Marcello's mid-life crisis (including a suicide) that were actually things he was playing out in his mind, yet no distinction is made between those visions and the "reality" to the audiance. That's all I meant.

Not my fault if some shoddy 1/2 ass director totally bastardized it for Vanilla Sky!

Now excuse me while I go back to writing up reviews for the Fellini archive I intend to create for this site.

I write reviews don't I? I already have up ones for LDV (of course) and Night of Cabiria (his other best). I'm going to try to do them in the order I like them, so the next few Fellinis I review will La Strada and Intervista for sure.

Then I'm going to do Ginger & Fred, and 8/12.

As treat to everyone here *snicker*, I am then going to review the two Fellinis that were never released in the U.S. after that. Fellini's Casanova (which starred Donald Sutherland) and Voice of the Moon (the last movie he did before he died, which starred none other than Roberto Begnini).

Goona be good....I will try to do them over winter vacation.

Hey bABA..when I did the search I got that toilet on the third page too.

Yup, you're right on that front. Vanilla Sky IS Open Your Eyes (Abre de los(?) Ojos), except Hollywood-ized. Cruise bought the remake rights, etc...

So ya, you were correct.

I have actualyl neer seen 81/2, but Vanilla Sky was a terrible film, and since its supposed to very close to the orgianl Open Your Eyes, I am not clamouring to see that onel

Whenver I see osmeone complain about vanilla Sky, I have to add my two cents...I hated that movie.

Yeah, I pretty much didn't hear great things about either, but a couple people have convinced me I must see open you eyes, so I'll try to check it out.

8 1/2 is astounding for its contributions to film, but something about it doesn't quite sustain me the same way some of his other works do. I would give it an B+, but since I know what conventions it defined in cinema (they were new) I say A-.

Not like the A+ La Dolce Vita gets though. 8)
