Why does everone keep saying that, lol? I mean I'm sure it increased a little bit because of it but not enough to amke a big difference. Last week's episode was not the highest rated episode at that point, it was the episode two weeks before it (music awards was on the week before THAT).
And now last night's episode is the highest rated of the season so far.
Well, kinda predictable, I expected it to be Mrs. Huber. But still very good, and I think it's becoming my favorite TV show.

On ABC, the standout, of course, was mega-hit Desperate Housewives with a whopping 18.7/26 in the overnights, 27.04 million viewers and a 12.4/27 among adults 18-49 from 9-10 p.m. Comparatively, that was an increase over already winning lead-in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (#2: 10.6/15; Viewers: #1, 18.16 million; A18-49: #1, 7.5/17) of 76 percent in the overnights, 8.88 million viewers and 53 percent among adults 18-49 Although Boston Legal at 10 p.m. (#1, 10.0/15; Viewers: #1, 14.04 million; A18-49: #1, 5.9/14) benefited without NBC's Crossing Jordan in the competitive mix, erosion out of Desperate Housewives of 47 percent in the overnights, 13.0 million viewers and 52 percent among adults 18-49 is still concerning

I'm surprised to see Extreme Makeover: Home Edition to be doing so well.

It seems that Mrs. Huber isin't gone after all. According to Comingsoon.net Mrs. Huber will be back.
Desperate Housewife is Not Gone Just Yet
Source: TV Guide November 29, 2004
If you haven't had a chance to watch last night's episode of ABC's Desperate Housewives yet, then turn back now to avoid a big spoiler!
If you caught the show, you know that Mrs. Huber (Christine Estabrook) met her untimely death at the hands of creepy Paul (Mark Moses). But Estabrook tells TV Guide that "Mrs. Huber's like the Terminator - she'll be back."
She tells the magazine that she's "still shooting episodes" and doesn't know how many she still has to film. "I think [the writers know], but they don't tell me."
Estabrook wouldn't reveal how her character will be back.

I don't know why but abc has been so lousy over the past years at keeping their shows consistent week to week once they're in the season.
the two week stint might hurt the ratings actually.... I don't think they'll go higher than this week's for at least another months or so....
I agree with Rodn as I even posted earlier.... I don't knwo why everyone thought the MNF incident had so much impact.... I think it was really all the publicity it got that week.... always great ads, Newsweek cover, and yes news coverage for the MNF thing, and overall word of mouth and articles on its success.... everyone is desperate to see what's so special in Mysteria Lane!!
this week's was higher because of last week's high publicity and rating.... last week played like a cliffhanger, so you know you're gonna get at least all of that week's viewers, and then some (if you're lucky or talented)
If only Boston Legal did better, ABC would OWN Sundays. I, too, am shocked at Extreme Make-over's enormous success. If Lost keeps up in its ratins and if Alias does even a tad bit better than The Bachelor, abc might have a chance at beating NBC this year (assuming Desperate Housewives continues growing... imagine 30+ million viewers a week!)
abc's biggest obstacle si their sitcoms.... theh really need to push them or come out with a new 1/2 hour phenomenon... all they need is one and then with smart scheduling they can build their already-existing shows on that.... and that would guarantee a #2 place in the ratings.
Also.... they do need a reality/game show and they were spot on with the Mole,.... a greay and popular (for abc) show. I don't know why they lost faith and just dumped it....
If they get one season of Mole for every mid-season after Monday Night Football stops airing in January.... they could really do alot with that. Or they could put it on Wednesdays at 10.
Mondays: MNF half season with say Wifeswap or something at 10.
then mid-season you replace it with a movie, moving Wifeswap to another night, thursday (@9) or Tuesday (@10). Tuesday is comedy night with a new drama at 10 replaced by Wifeswap mid-season (cuz it would ahve failed). Wednesday you have LOST, ALIAS, MOLE!!! Thursday doesn't matter anyway cuz they'll never get anything there. Fridays, keep TGIF. Saturdays are good for repeats and sundays, Extreme Makeover, Desperate Housewives, Boston Legal (or move boston Legal to Tuesday at 10, taking wifeswap to thursdays or fridays) or a new drama!
Well, I should be a network programmer!!!

by the way..... EXCELLENT episode. I think it mya have been more well written than last week's even if it wasn't as top notch entertainment as last week's! I mean last week they set it all up with events and this week they did one hell of a job following trough with each storyline with substance rather than just cover-up.... the most desperate episode yet!!
We still don't know why MAry Alice got rid of the baby!

I believe I read something (SPOILER ALERT BELOW! HIGHLIGHT TO READ!):
...that Mrs. Huber's sister (who she spoke of in the most recent episode) comes to Wisteria Lane to figure out her sister's murder. I assume it has to be a twin sister.

Personally I think this show is getting a little too dark too fast. It might have been better if they'd left it to end of season for some of these things.
But...at least it's not another reality show thank god.

Ditto. Its like an out of control train. What are they going to do next? They need to keep a load of writers on hand so it doesn't get stale....
And I didn't like last week as much as I did the week before. Oh well.

I'd rather we didn't turn this into a political thread. And I suspect most of my fellow threaders feel the same way.

Great episode, even though I missed the first 20 minutes.
*SPOILER*
Why exactly did Carlos get arrested? I'm a little confused, hehe.

We don't know why Carlos got arrested exactly, Carlos believes it has something do with his business rival/friend(?) Tanaka setting him up. Although it could do with the cable guy he beat up a few episodes back.
This was another fine episode but did nothing to increase my opinion on Paul's ability to cover things up. He buried Mrs. Huber in daylight. I thought that was a cardinal sin in doing all things criminal, guess TV has taught me wrong again. Bree is the best character on the show, and even though Lynette, Susan and Gabrielle had good interesting story lines Bree brought the show up to another level. From throwing the urine at Rex to calling in the tip to the swim team she can do no wrong. I loved it when it looked like she chose the cup carefully from the receptacle. Like *that* was the right cup or something. Her asking her daughter was also good TV. "How was your day....Where does Andrew keep his marijuana" Oh Bree.
Julie and Zach, really? Ok - go with it, although telling someone that I killed my sister never really set the mood quite right for romance it seemed to work for him, go Zach. Interesting twist with it being an adult body, chopped into bits. Because it just wasn't disturbing enough that it was a body in the toy chest, it had to be in mulitple pieces.

Yep, an AWESOME episode. Not as much punch as its best episodes, but this series doesn't seem to have a disappoinintg week.
Okay, spoilers.....
I don't know why exactly Carlos got arrested. I assume it's something business related.
Did Zack say that he killed Dana and his parents buried her??
In the box was an ADULT WOMAN???? How old was Dana and where did they grow up that none of the housewives or other neighbors know about another child...
I g2g now, i'll post more later

Good episode though I'm getting so I just don't like the Lynette character, or maybe its the actress playing her, one of the two. I'm amazed anyone would marry her. The rest of them though are a lot of fun. Odd no followup on Susan's night with her boyfriend.
