Post Google Ads on Forum.
Guys,

We have placed a google ad on the forum. Obviously.

Other than the google ad, nothing will get more intrusive than that. I am sorry even this ad had to be placed, but if we want to continue contests then it was something we had to do.

Click them if they spark your interest, otherwise ignore them completly. I hope they don't bother anyone, I matched their colors and tried to blend them into the forum as best I could.

KJ

just to let you guys know, the forum will never ever see the following types of advertising

- text links in your posts (those annoying green underlined ones)
- click link to see temp page first before going to expected page.
- ads showing you women 'busting at the seams' or anything similar
- ads in between posts or topics.

(really, though, ever gonna have to resort to those types or the ones with the games? beat the turtles with a baseball bat, win 40 million dollars? I don;t believe those are contained in that "you'll never seen" list...)

Lets just say that whatever we put up, we want it to be non intrusive and related to what thsi forum is about. Them flowers or computers or those kind of ads are non offensive but not related to the forum. I didn't put them in the list above but lets just leave it at "I strongly doubt those will ever ... ever ... ever ...... ever ....... ever ....... ever ........ ever be put up".

Then again, I know karl would never want them at all .. he hates ads to begin with. and i hate "those" types of ads. so yea ... chances of them ever showing up are prolly extremely extremely extremely extremely extremely extremely low.

Didn't even notice until I saw this thread. I don't mind. Bills have to be paid after all, and I know the administration here dislikes large banner ads and pop-ups as much as I do (probably), so I'm not too worried.

Thanks for everything guys.

I'm fine with it. As long as they're not the links in the posts (the green underlined ones), it doesn't matter.

I didn't notice them at first, they really aren't intrusive at all.

Personally, I'm fine with it, the site gets enough hits that they should be a good money generator.

I will not stand for this at all. This is bullshit! It's---

Ooh, unlimited movie downloads with no monthly fees!

... well... consider this a warning! A very loose warning.

The ad bar is so well integrated into the forums you almost don't even notice after a while. Text ads are easy on the eyes, and the colours work. And it helps you guys support the site. Sounds perfect to me.

PEACE, Mike.

I am absolutely fine with them.

Now if you still ever get those underlined green ones here, I'm gonna kill everyone :nerd:

This is probably the only forum where the admins are considerate enough to bring this up as a topic of discussion, so that in itself is a big plus. :)

I'm fine with the ads as well. As long as we don't become half as bad as BOM.

BOM is horrible for ads. The worst is when they bring up the page to create an account when you just want to see the damn daily numbers!!

When did those ads become so popular? Other than us, almost every site I go to, I run into either busting women or sexy single ads. It seemed to happen overnight sometime last year.

A few days ago, I finally figured out why all the sites have them and why they all seem to have the same stuff and how they all manage to have the proper code to do it.

It's fine and I'm happy for you guys that you are getting some kind of return on your investment in the site. I'd hold off on having too many graphics heavy ads though so as not to alienate the dialup users, but other than that it's cool.

@Rubber Baba: Don't go all Lost cliffhanger on us, what is the reason they all have it?

So how much money is it going to take to make all those ads disappear?
Come on people, pitch in for the WOKJ fund to make all these ads disappear

I'd rather ads than people pitching in. 'Cause if for instance someone gives 100 bucks then they will throw a holy fit if they get banned for bad behaviour later.

any chance we can move it more like this?

i think splitting it there makes more sense, as the navigator thing ("Forum Index >> Forum >> Thread Title") is more part of the forum itself than the big blue header/row-of-links.

yknow? no?

no, yes.

k?
