Love Actually
Love ActuallyQuote: Love Actually is a 2003 British romantic comedy film written and directed by Richard Curtis. The screenplay delves into different aspects of love as shown through ten separate stories involving a wide variety of individuals, many of whom are shown to be interlinked as their tales progress. The ensemble cast is composed predominantly of British actors.
The film begins five weeks before Christmas and is played out in a week by week countdown until the holiday with an epilogue that takes place one month later.

A surprisingly wonderful romantic comedy. The cast is great and I liked all the little stories of the movie, it is a bit too long though.

I absolutely loved everything about this film, the performance, the charactors, the witty script, everything. It's my favorite Christmas movie, and one of my favorite movies ever. I don't think it was too long, there was a lot to cover. I wouldn't have cared if it was an hour longer.
10/10 (A+)

A wonderful movie with great performance all the way around. My favorite performance was by Emma Thompson, but my favorite storyline was Hugh Grant's. I also really liked the storyline involving Kiera Knightley, but didn't care for the one involving Liam Neeson and his son. I grade it a B+.

I am going to say that I didn't think this film was very good. I felt that having so many storylines in the film hurt the film. Hugh Grant's, Liam Neeson's stroylines were great (espically Neeson's) and really touched me, but the other ones just seems to be filler...maybe it is just me.

Good romantic comedy fashioned around the Christmas season, but it just wasn't compelling enough for me to love it. Still, a nice, sweet movie.

One of the best romantic movies ever made. While not all storylines have been equally great, overall the movie was everything. It was moving, touching, sweet, cute funny and entirely memorable. The cast was great and so were the performances, especially by Bill Nighy.

I didn't get to this yesterday, but I made good on my promise to see it tonight. On to my mini review. :shv:
Love Actually told me something right off the bat, and that's that it would be fun, and would have a great rewatchability quality. First of all, the cast list, even the bit parts, was quite impressive. My favorite, and I'm assuming I'm not alone here, was Billy Mack , of course. =D> (his snorting laugh wasn't quite as cute as Sandra Bullock's in Miss Congeniality , though.
*snort*
I was very surprised how well the film holds up under all the different stories going on, because that is a hard juggling act to pull off. It also had some very funny moments...genuine laugh out loud comedy stuff. I also liked the soundtrack very much, even the covers of The Beatles' "All You Need is Love" and Fleetwood Mac's "Song Bird".
Laura Linney's cell phone (side note: I find Laura Linney to be extremely cute) got on my nerves something terrible, but in a funny way, because it reminded me so much of my mom's. The woman couldn't have picked a more obnoxious tone for a cell phone ring. It goes through me like nails on a chalkboard, and as soon as Laura's cell phone went off the first time, I felt like I was with my mom somewhere. When it went off several times, even moreso. Arggghhh!
Great movie! Funny characters! Touching bits as well.

Favorite story was Hugh Grant's and the potty mouthed Natalie. Billy Mack was too, kinda. He was my favorite character.
Least favorite would probably have been Colin Firth's story.
I liked them all , though.

It was pretty good. Vastly overrated though. Likeable characters, along with great stories, but I just couldn't love this movie. Don't get me wrong its good, but not great.

Haha, oh yeah, Hugh's was my favorite too, partially because I had a girlfriend who would constantly accidentally swear up a storm and everyone but me seemed to think was fat even though she was 5'9 and 130 pounds. But damn Mav, I knew you'd like this one, but it looks like Libs really has shown you a whole new world of movies ya love man.

Bill Nighy's story was by far and away my favorite. So hilarious.
I didn't particulary like the Thompson/Rickman storyline.

"A warm, benevolent comedy whose characters gradually become your dear friends." -- Colin Covert, MINNEAPOLIS STAR TRIBUNE
"One of the most unabashedly romantic films I've ever seen." -- Erik Childress, EFILMCRITIC.COMFrom the trailers, this looked as if it would be cute, but not astounding. It seemed romantic but not original. But ultimately it seemed like a rehash of the past Working Title romantic comedies we have come to expect year after year. With this in mind, as well as the thought of the astounding cast, which includes at least 20 well-known actors in either leading roles or cameos, I went to see LOVE ACTUALLY, expecting to see a nice and easygoing romantic comedy. I was wrong about it. Instead of just being good, it was fantastic, and exceeded all of my expectations. This movie is so romantic, so clever, so funny, and so utterly sweet that it could truly be described as the pefect romantic comedy. And to boot, it has a storyline that is sure to make you feel good about the upcoming holiday season. LOVE ACTUALLY tells a truly original tale of several love stories that occur on the streets of Britain during the five weeks leading up until Christmas. It would take too long to describe all, but there are several that recieve more attention than others. For example, one involves the Prime Minister (Hugh Grant) and his adorable and sweet secretary Natalie (Martine McCutcheon). Others include a married couple (Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman) discovering marriage problems, a hidden love between a newlywed (Keira Knightley) and her groom's best friend (Andrew Lincoln), a blossoming love between two people (Colin Firth and Lucia Monz) who don't even speak the same language, an aged rock star (Bill Nighy) hoping for a comeback while realizing what is important in life, a father desperately trying to help his 10-year old son reveal himself to the love of his life and many more. The movie is so filled with love and heart that you will almost be overwhelmed. It truly is a film that shows you what love is all about. The cast is astounding. Hugh Grant once again proves he is a talented rom-com lead, and he really is likable here. Martine McCutcheon is adorable in her first major film role, playing a very sweet character the audience immediately recognizes. Colin Firth and Lucia Monz both steal the show, providing great chemistry and sweet, adorable and touching scenes. Their love story was one of my favorite parts of the film and I felt like cheering at the end when they finally got together. Emma Thompson is ASTOUNDING here as the wife who discovers her husband's planned infidelities. I'm shocked she didn't recieve an Oscar nomination for her work here. In one truly heartbreaking scene, she makes the audience cry with her as she makes the discovery. Alan Rickman isn't very likable, but he gives a decent performance. Liam Neeson is very good as the troubled stepfather who wants his stepson (Thomas Sangster) to tell the love of his life how he feels. The scene where the son finally does tell the girl is one of the film's most memorable sequences. Keira Knightley is great here, showing emotional range and adding depth to her character. Laura Linney gives a cute performance as a woman pining for her co-worker. All the other actors do a great job, especially Bill Nighy, who steals the show with a lot of hilarious scenes throughout the film. Director Richard Curtis has crafted a true work of art, from the astounding cast to the wonderful and beautifully written screenplay. He has truly proven himself to me as one of the most talented men working in film today. He brings a distinct and bright vision to the film, and this really adds to the heart and soul of it. Another thing that works here is the music. The musical score in this film is fantastic. It didn't stick out to me during the first viewing, but really got to me after that. It's sweeping and romantic, and really conveys the emotion being played out on screen. I'm shocked and dismayed that composer Craig Armstrong didn't recieve an Oscar nomination for his work here. LOVE ACTUALLY is a fantastic romance, but in addition it is also one of the most joyous and heartwarming Christmas films I have ever seen, possibly the best one. No film has ever made me anticipate and realize the importance of a holiday more than this one. In closing, LOVE ACTUALLY is truly perfect. A perfect romantic comedy, a perfect Christmas film and a perfect cast of characters. It's a wonderful holiday experience that is one of my all-time favorites, and I look forward to watching it numerous times throughout my life, especially on Christmas 10/10 (A+)Merry Christmas Everyone!

Love actually, is an A movie.
My only minor complaint is that they could have linked the two people playing body doubles in a porno to the other characters better. I think the only time they appeared with other main characters is when they attended the elementary school's performance night.
