Oooooohhh....I see. "I'm from LONDON. I'm toooo good to count the opinions of those who condone the eating of live mice." If it wasn't for people like me and Ray Romano there'd be a lot more plagues, and THIS is what we get in return for saving the world?

3 300 million movies in one year is highly unlikely. Since it is recieving so much hype, there is no doubt about it that there will be dissapointment for many viewers. Very few movies survive the pre-release hype that movies like King Kong get. Expect a total closer to War of the Worlds.

3 in one year is unlikely? It happened in 2002, 2003, and 2004.

What bigger releases come after Kong......When Narnia will not do that well and Kong has some space...It might do it.

Im making the assumption that Potter will end up crossing it with the Holidays coming up.

As much as i would like it to happen, i just don't think it will.
So being as i am usually completely wrong, i'm in.
EDIT: and after seeing the clip here http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IYZAORHX i'm more convinced.

Nah, but it'll do about $260 million. This isn't like LOTR, where there were the fans from the books to view them multiple times. The PJ fanatics can only go so far, too. It looks good, but not that good. I saw a clip on Extra or Access Hollywood yesterday and the CGI with Kong running while holding Watts honestly looked kinda fake. I dunno, the other clips look great, but I don't see it becoming that huge.

Yeah, I saw that to and it definitely looks pretty mixed on the CGI in this movie and the dinosaurs look like retread from JURASSIC PARK III..

This is being hyped up big time as the event film of the holidays but I dont think it can beat FOTR. More like $270m which would be great. It comes out here in 12 days so will see it then!

One fine prediction you have there, albeit a bit optimistic.

Personally I don't think disappointment is going to be a major issue, I expect most of those who see it to be entertained. Hell it's hard to spend 200m on a movie and not come up with something watchable, and the effects have gotten a major upgrade from the first trailer. The hurdle for this movie is apathy to the subject matter, no one wakes up thinking they just wish they could see a remake of a 1933 movie.
But maybe I overestimate that hurdle, it's hard to say. The game version looks well made and that might create anticipation that I didn't expect.

Final tally will be 198.653 mill. You heard it here first. It will not make 200 mill. Yes, I am serious.

Roughly $250 million, but I could see (conceivably) $50 million either way. Depends on how it's received. I doubt very highly it'll get to $300 million, but it just might.

Really?? I'll tell ya, if the final domestic number were to be 200 Million, then it would have to be considered a Collossal Disappointment for as much as it cost to make and market, but certainly, anything is possible and it could pull a GODZILLA on us..
