PRIME (2005)
I'm kind of mixed on this one. Parts of it are great and other parts could have been better. I will admit one thing: it definitely wins the award for funniest scene of 2005 There's one scene in the film that literally had me laughing so hard I was in tears, even with its completely short length. Meryl Streep is great here, and definitely makes the movie. She is hilarious and takes control of the screen whenever she is present. However, she isn't the star of the film. Both Uma Thurman and Bryan Greenberg get most of the screentime here, and both do a good job for the most part. The fact of the matter is that the film is a bit too long and the relationship between them begins to get repetitive. The best scenes are easily between Thurman and Streep, who have awesome chemistry and work well together. The ending is also awful, coming out of nowhere in an attempt to differ itself from the typical romantic comedies. But I'd definitely recommend this one for Streep's performance alone. It's a fun romantic comedy that isn't hard to enjoy! I'll probably be seeing this again as well, since my mom wants to see it and I saw it with a friend tonight.

(Spoilers)
Very, very funny movie. Numerous scenes had me cracking up. I was especially pleased with Bryan Greenberg. He was funny and charismatic, and held his own. I didn't expect too much from him and I was pleasantly surprised. Btw, Thompson, what scene was it that had you laughing. I laughed at a lot, lol, so I wouldn't be able to pick just one that had you cracking up.
I also agree that it was long in length and did get very repetitive.. the breaking up, getting back together, breaking up. It was a bit much. The ending.. I was okay with it. Do I feel they loved each other? Yes. But I think that Raffi was right.. they were just at different points in their lives, and it would never have worked in the long run.
Streep was very good in her role.. however, I think that her part was unnecessary. The whole "she's sleeping with my son and I'm her therapist" thing didn't really fit, I don't think. The movie was about the relationship between Greenberg and Uma, and I think they could have fit Streep in as the mother who was against it without having the therapist angle. It just seemed a bit awkward at times.

My favorite parts in the film were the grandmother flashbacks. The one I was referring to was the "Is she black?" line But I agree, parts of the film were hysterical IMO. I'll definitely be purchasing the DVD.

I thought Greenberg was good as well. It's definitely his breakout film.

I thought the film was enjoyable but very uneven. Uma Thurman was quite good, but Meryl Streep was good enough to warrant more screen time than she was given. Instead we're stuck with Bryan Greenberg, who gives a lousy, irritating performance that makes it difficult to understand what Rafi sees in Dave. B-

What a wasted opportunity. The trailer makes the film out to be along the lines of Analyze This. That is to say it would be a laugh out loud movie, about a relationship between a therapist and her patient. Instead we get a boring romantic drama about pretty people with problems, filled in with a couple of great comedic scenes. I laughed maybe four times throughout the movie, and for a movie that is over 100 minutes long, that is too little. Towards the end of the film, I just didn't care about Rafi and Dave. There was no possible way their relationship could work out, based on his mother's beliefs, and yes their age difference, so I had a problem keeping interest. Meryl Streep was the standout, which wasn't really surprising, but she is underused in the film, although her character is a cloud that hangs over Rafi and Dave.
Did I mention the movie is 100 minutes long? The last 30 minutes were excruciating to sit through.

B- think he was like clay that she could shape and he was everything that she didn't have in her marriage. for a short term fling or a rebound after her marriage.

I actually liked the ending. Both got things out of the relationship and it never could have been a lasting thing so they had their good times / learning experiences and then moved on.

Bryan Greenberg's Dave is very, very bland. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the film because of the dynamics between Uma Thurman and Meryl Streep. The last part of the movie seemed tacked on (the whole bit when Rafi finds out about Dave's fling with the model - leading to their breakup - eventhough they just got back minutes ago, lol) and an unnecessary complication.

Ugh.
Terrible movie that is made slightly better by Uma Thurman and Meryl Steep's great chemistry. Bryan Greenburg was simply terrible in his role though. Shoddy writting, poor plot progression and haphazard editing make this only slightly enjoyable. Could have been so much better if it would have gone the route of either comedy or drama, but it can't find a middle ground between the two extremes and gets lost in limbo.

Please, don't start off any review with "terrible movie" if you end it with a grade like C+.

Well i was pleasantly surprised by this, laugh out loud funny at times, the highlights being every scene with Meryl and Uma. The end dragged a little but i didn't care really. B+
I love me some Uma.

I thought I graded this one...
Very conventional and a bit long, but I still enjoyed it. What can I say, I love Streep.
