Here are the December 3 releases, why is there no wide opening. Do they usually leave a free weekend after so many wide releases?

Anyone have any details on these 2 smaller opening movies? What do you know about them.

This movie is not for me, just looks like a pretty boy brit arguing with a stuffy brit over who can pork the yank girl.

But if I were going to see it (and who knows, I might get dragged to it by a friend, you know how that goes) it will be for Julia Roberts. In the ads she appears to be doing a great job. The best I've seen her act yet, just going by the ads.

In hindsight I could have phrased that first line more sensitively.

This looks more like the Alfie movie for Jude Law then Alfie was.

Cool for Natalie Portman the only individual actor receiving votes.

Looks like 20 lucky theaters will be getting a good movie. Here are the RT #'s so far.

On Closer as so far there is a 50 / 50 split on the movie, are one of the actors a big turn off to you or is the talkie movie just not interesting?

This movie also might be getting some Oscar talk.

I don't want to see the movie for any one person. I just want to see it because I think it looks like a really good movie and it just happens to have four actors in it, who I like very much. However, just like a few other people on this forum have mentioned, it looks like Natalie Portman might have the stand-out performance in this movie.

Jude and Julia.

Saw that on one of the big national magazines maybe People, Jude Law, is on the cover as the sexiest man.

Is this true?

Also, I though when that Ripley movie came out, with his much talked about performance - I actually thought that he would have been a better choice for Ripley, he was going to sky-rocket but even though he has made alot of movies, he hasn't talken off yet or snagged a big one, compared to like a Matt Damon.

Is this a British thing for the Americans?

Good to see that some people are going to see this movie - right now by the score of 12 to 4.

Yes, the post Thanksgiving weekend is a very slow weekend because people are too distracted shopping and the teens wallets are left empty because of last weekend. Holdovers can drop between 50% and 70% (due to an inflated Friday). Also, the stroms that usually come this weekend ususally put a dent on the whole moviegoing season.

I'd be seeing it for Natalie Portman if I was American, or lived anywhere near America and cared enough to go see Closer.

Yep, people should be satisfied with House of Flying Daggers! Can't wait to see this movie - but on the other side, I won't watch Closer (nah, I don't like these kinds of movies) :wink:

As Closer opens and all 4 actors get some meaty roles and scenes.

Who really stood out for you and which scenes.

For me, #1 was the strip club scene with Portman and Owens in the private room.

Looks of Portman nudity, sexual teasing and other interesting talk and emotions.

Portman really breaks out of her shell.
