Thanks Miruvor for blocking out the spoilers........i really fear to read any articles like those because you know that somewhere there would be an odd slipper....
Chicago cloaked its musical yearnings by having its song-and-dance numbers take place in a character's mind. Moulin used pop hits by Elton John and David Bowie. But Phantom will make no excuses for being a full-blown, 143-minute rock opera that's more opera than rock. If audiences respond, Lloyd Webber says he will begin filming his considerable back catalog, starting with 1993's Sunset Boulevard. And if Phantom fails? The trend could dry up and blow away.
Let's hope for the future of musicals that Phantom is successful......then we can see Cats and Sunset Boulevard......

Lol..well windy Welly is in the south of the North Island and Queenstown is in the South Island!! Confused? lol
Yes, Welly is just located by the Cook Straight so they get all the gales and very strong currents from the sea! I love Welly though and Mount Victoria is right there just above town!

However, we are starting to also see articles saying that Phantom lacks the emotion and is just constant singing........ :?
Schumacher and Farrell Reteaming?
http://www.phantomfans.net/index.php?showtopic=4442
"Just went to a National Board of Review (a ridiculous bunch of elistist film fans) screening of 'The Phantom of the Opera,' which was attended by the cast, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber & Joel Schumacher. I briefly met Schumacher and congratulated him on 'Tigerland' - I'd been meaning to do that for some time, it was fun to be able to, even though I probably was a silly ass.
--
Oh, as for 'Phantom', I thought it was a rather lumbering adaptation, faithful to a fault, with some marvellous sequences and production values but lacking the kind of innovation that might have won over audiences not inclined to see unabashedly romantic musicals with wall-to-wall singing."

Yes...Queenstown is the extreme sports and skiing capital..lol and nearby is Arrowtown where you'll find Skipper's Canyon (Arwen against the Wraiths at Ford of Bruinen sequence) and they host the World Triathlon too!
You should visit NZ...it's only a three hour flight from where you are in Oz!! One day eh?

You mean the Shotover and those other jet boats!! They're mad wicked fun!! lol Tell you a little secret...well..I think it's a secret..hehe! Do you remember the part in FOTR that I just mentioned with Arwen and the Wraiths at the Ford? Do you remember right after she invokes the Elvish chant spell how the first sight of the water that surges round the bend and then heads toward the Wraiths guided by CGI horses? Well that surge was real and was created by two Shotover jetboats doing spinouts in the canyon on the other side of the bend!
Arch..lol..I don't even know your real name , you are yet young and there is loads of time yet for you to explore the world! You'll love it when you do!

I wonder if any of these posters will be used as promotional material or foyer banners.....they are exquisite and it would be a real waste.
I've only seen the pink intimate theatrical poster so far.... :?

Some of the blokes who work at Shotover told me and also a mate of mine who worked on the films confirmed it! It's good to be in the know sometimes!! lol Believe you me, I thought it was all CGI too but I've been on those jetboats and I've also seen what they can do and now I believe! They're mad wicked I say! In fact a lot of the things that I thought were complete CGI were in fact real and only minutely enhanced!

Oscar still king for Harvey
Blighty honors topper while M'max is in flux
By IAN MOHR
http://www.variety.com/article/VR111791 ... id=13&cs=1
NEW YORK -- Miramax Films co-topper Harvey WeinsteinHarvey Weinstein was made a Commander of the British Empire Monday night in Manhattan, while the fiefdom he built from scratch with brother Bob continues to shift amid cutbacks and ongoing horn-locking with corporate parent the Walt Disney Co.
--
Back downtown at Miramax, it's now all hands on deck as the company's Oscar machine rolls into action, with the Weinsteins pitching in to personally build campaigns for such contenders as "Finding Neverland" and "The Aviator."
--
Miramax has split domestic rights on "Aviator" with Warner Bros. and is taking point on the Martin ScorseseMartin Scorsese pic's marketing plans. Warners has its own plate full with "Ocean's Twelve," "The Polar Express," "The Phantom of the Opera""The Phantom Of The Opera" and "Alexander."
--
"When Bob and Harvey get behind a movie, they get behind it, and they love to have their backs against the wall," said a former staffer. "They'll get it done, if they have to get the security guard in the building to do posters."

We have white water and also black water (Waitomo Caves..North Island) rafting here too! Done both, almost drowned a couple times when the raft ahead of us stalled out and we collided and flipped over! Banging up against jagged rocks in dangerous rapids is an interesting experience! I guess that's why we sign that waiver eh? lol
