Post The 'One Tree Hill' Thread (Season 3)
October 5th is the priemiere.

Yesssssss. Its pretty much my favorite show of the moment, I can't wait. I love how alot of it is left up in the air right now to, nobody not even the diehard fans know whats going to happen next.

Season 2s finale was not only the best episode ever made of the show, it is also in my opinion one of the greatest shows done in teen tv ever, maybe one of the greatest for tv shows period. It was like the Casablanca of teen drama. So much developments, emotion, angles, factors to consider. And not 1 but 2 huge cliffhangers for us. The first involving Peyton's mom was a fall to the floor moment. The 2nd one, a more developed Dan take-down, was absolutley classic. What I loved about that too was all the possibilities it leads to. They set up a complex web leading up to this, with a number of suspects. Andy never made it to New Zealand as showcased by a few phone calls. Dan ruined his life. Losing his job, being de facto deported. Keith, another Dan victim, now twisted up, was spotted getting into a mysterious black van earlier in the episode. We never properly saw how Keith took the earlier episode Emily set-up and he could've gone into a total hole of sickness. Whitey had his line 'You're playing with fire Danny!' and thats a direct referance to what happened. Deb was spotted holding pills early in the episode, and shes been talking about a way out with Nathan. And everyone else hates him, and could be involved.

Must we forget the other happenings of that 2 hr finale as well. Lucas finally confronting everything. Haley has to make a decision. Brooke moving away to California. All tied up into a glorious blend of emotions. There was also a great line near the end between Lucas and Peyton: "I guess its just you and me this summer." Amazing. Will they go directly from where the last season ended, having the first 12 episodes being the summer, or will they go to september with flashbacks displaying what happened next. Felix and Anna have to come back sometime. Will The Startlet winner become a big character. I don't know this but I'm pumped for the priemiere.

31 days!

I love the One Tree Hill season 2 finale and I am so anticipating the season 3 premiere. Also, this season is going to be longer with 26 episodes instead of 22 episodes like both of the first two seasons had. I can't wait!!

The WB has released its overview of what is happening. I kind-of wished they'd left it unknown but whatever. They didn't reveal anything to do with the Dan lit on fire incident, whether hes alive or not or so forth, so that'll remain a cliffhanger. They just let loose general details. Its not terribly revealing, but I'll have the highlight thing anyways:

-It is going to be 3 months later, skipping the summer. I assume they'll recount the summer in flashbacks.
-Lucas and Peyton have grown close over the 3 months
-Brooke moves back. Theres a new ultra-popular girl challenging her.
-Nathan and Haley are in turmoil. Her classmates don't really like what she did. Hes having other options with other girls
-Basketball is coming up again. Lucas and Nathan are still against each other, a la the events of the season 2 finale.
-Peytons supposed mom Ellie after declaring the fact disappeared for a while, and Peyton doesn't know whats true. She'll have to confront her dad about the truth and lies.
-Jake and Nikki are finally climaxing their battle
-Karen might stay in New Zealand. The past of her Tree Hill days haunts her and she wants to start fresh. Because Lucas is gone soon anyways...
-Whitey is having bad health. His Raven coaching days are winding down, and he has to decide how long he goes. I think he'll end up dieing in the show eventually actually. Could be soon.

Thats all for now.

2 weeks 2 days until October 5th the premiere. The WB finally gave it its own mini-site, which is good news as it shows the show is only growing in popularity.

bumps

Just watched the priemiere. Considering what it had to work with, I say it did a surprsingly solid job. Last years Season 2 premiere was one of their worst episodes ever, I was expecting a similar situation here, I was not expecting this to do what it did. They quickly handled their huge Season 2-ending cliffhangers, which I think is for the better personally. Peyton being adopted as a child, the return of the Brooke, the Nathan-Halie situation, Dan alive. The culprit of the Dan burning is still unknown, I expect the 'I swear as soon as I find out who did this...' will last throughout the season, at least for a while. I liked how they recapped everybody who hates him in that moment as well, all the possibilites.

I thought Mouth's like 1 minute appearance(nice to see him in the full-cast now too, opening credits) was really eye-opening and touching. I hope they destroy Erica Marsh this year, as if I know the show she'll definitly appear. I don't really like Peytons new haircut, aka she looked better with long curly hair, but its a fresh change I guess. It'll warm up to the audience no doubt.

The season started better then ever possibly, unlike some shows *cough*OC*cough*. Its a new year, yippee.

I'd love to see the awkwardness of this set right now, considering Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray split.

Hello. I've never watched the show but have a question: The first season is on sale at Target for $18.88. Is it worth buying? Please give more than a yes/no answer. Does it compare to The OC? I've always kind of made the assumption that the two shows are similar with OC being a little more scandalous because it's on Fox

I think its better myself, its a different tone though. The 1st season starts off a bit weak, in like Episodes 2 and 3, as they were unexperianced, but it fixes its mistakes and improves majorly after the first couple. Its pacing is different than OC, the difference is that this is small-town while OC is high-roller. I find its just overall better. Better characters, better writing, better-looking and more charasimatic castmembers, and so on. I would suggest it, its a paced, quality worked version of the OC in my mind, which is why I believe it may be surpassing that show if not this year then next year in ratings.

How would you describe the tone of the show as compared to The OC?

Each episode has more to do with the next, and so forth. Its more of a continious storyline, while in the OC each episode is 'a week in the life of rich kids'. In Tree Hill there is literary quotes, flashbacks, symbolism in objects, and so on. Its more of a story-wise show. There is more backstory, and everything is developed handily with knowing writing. I know I will get flamed for comparing it to Lost, but they're similar in that they serialize their drama. A detail will happen in one episode, and come into an effect 9 episodes later. There is plenty of incidents that are recalled at moments, and have meaning later.

And when they introduce new characters, they actually last longer than 3 episodes, and are explained for leaving, unlike OCs. *cough*Zack*cough*.

Thanks. As for Zack, the writers don't have any control over whether an actor wants to keep doing a show or not, Maybe the one playing Zack didn't want to be on the show anymore for whatever reason. Also, The OC does have a continuous storyline. I don't know how many references there have been to Marissa's myriad of past issues during the first two seasons. One wouldn't understand what is being referenced unless they've been following the show for its duration.

Get the first season. It's so f-ing cheap how could you not? If you like O.C., which is crappy in my opinion, then you'll LOVE this show. It's definitely better. Both shows have their cheesy moments though (Season 1 of Tree Hill has a million), but One Tree Hill is still much better. The O.C. is like a poor man's One Tree Hill. And Season 2 was definitely much better.

The premiere was good. Something about it annoyed the hell out of me though and it's that Peyton's dad is being played by someone else. I fucking hate when they do that! Ugh! It's annoying. I can't even accept him as her dad. If he had been playing her dad from the beginning it would be fine but he wasn't. They should have just gotten rid of her dad altogether if they couldn't get the same guy back. Man was that annoying!

I was a little confused by his look too, I think it may have been the same actor though. Hes just older and with a straighter haircut I believe. I mean its not like he was dropped before Season 3. The flashback sequences, which he was in, were filmed no doubt in the Season 2 slate as Peyton and co. still had their haircuts and Season 2 looks. So he appears in Season 2, then when they do the flashback sequences he is replaced? Hmm...

I've seen this guy before in other things and I'm sure that's not the same guy. It just can't be! I wonder what is up with this and why the other guy isn't back, if in fact I am right.

They look similar at least. He kind've reminds me of the dad from Boy Meets World, it might possibly be him, but that guy is getting older nowadays. Mouth(Lee Norris) was also off BMW at the beginning as nerd Minkus, so maybe thats the connection.

Saw tonight's premiere cause someone had to watch this.

As I have only seen about a quarter of the episodes, this really seemed flat and boring.

I don't know but none of the plot directions seem that interesting as some of the past shows I have seen.

It probably felt flat because it spent most of the time answering the 2 hr. season 2 finale, which was non-stop orgasmic exictement. This was slower than usual, but it was well-executed and brought it back around to a new year quite nicely. Considering where the shows at now, it was in my mind the best job they could've done to start the season and somehow follow-up that ultra-finale.

I know it's not the dad from BOY MEETS WORLD. He's done more than just something little because I'm sure I've seen him a few times. I'm going to check IMDB right now and see who it is.

Ok, I can't find out who it is, but other people had a problem with the new dad as well . You can check out this thread on the IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0368530/board/nest/27436362?d=27439508#27439508

From what I've heard its the guy that played Chad Michael Murray's dad in A CINDERELLA STORY. His name is Kevin Kilner.

Well that confirms it. Its kind've a bummer Griffith was replaced, but I'll get over it. He look enough like him to pass off as the same guy. I don't think he'll be appearing as much now, as he's not her dad anymore. But at least they didn't totally eliminate the character.

It would rule without Chad .

Anyway, I myself don't think he looks anything like him so it still annoys the hell out of me. In my opinion it really dragged the Season 3 premiere down. I'm sure the season will get better though. Season 2 started out kind of rocky but got much, much better. Even Season 1 got much better as it went along.

Yeah Season 1 finale and Season 2 premiere were in my opinion two of their worst episodes, but they climbed out of that funk.
