Alias has re-invented its original formula in spectacular style.
24 Continues to invest its hopes and future in a tired "realtime" system which i just fail to be impressed by once the novelty wore off - ive not watched an episode for quite some time now.

Alias - Lena Olin does actually beat any guest stars on WIll and Grace.
Failing to even aknowledge Gina Torres as Anna Espinisoa just needs a slap.
They bring older actresses into stunning roles with amazing storylines - the actresses give these perfect performances and instead the academy nominates some shit for ER; proving once again that they can be bought by a marketing campaign and some freebies.

Do you even watch ER? The only major noms they got were 2 for Guest Actor, and both were very deserving!

I actually did see the episode with Cynthia Nixon - she was fantastic and im sure she did deserve her nominations,

But Lena Olin was easily the most anticipated guest star in all of the tv's calendar year - and Gina Torres was fantastic too. One of Alias' merits is that it loads each season with guest stars tied cleverly into the plot without making a hoopla over their starpower. The show owns these stars, not the other way around.

In sitcoms especially stars ruin the epeisodes.

But Cynthia wasn't nominated for ER, so she didn't take away from Lena.

Hey, it's the very first and second post of this thread!!!

As for Micheal.... you really need to cut back on all this ALIAS, you're too biased and it's hard for some people to take you seriously.
I love ALIAS just as much as you, probably more... Seasons 1 and 2 were such a big part of my life back then. I was completely obsessed. And no one loves Lena Olin better than I do. I shouted with GLEE when I read the article about her return. But that being said... I think ALIAS took a much needed re-invention this season, yet it still remains miles away from the brilliance of the first 2 seasons and yes, I will say myself that even though I haven't seen all the other guest actors' roles, but I would definitely understand Lena Olin not getting nominated. there have been much bigger travesties in thyis year's noms!

Raffiki - everyone here is bias.
I know your a big fan of Rescue Me; does that mean im going to not take your opinon that it should win seriously? Of course i will - its your opinon and your entitled to it; and im interested to hear it too.

People need to stop stigmatizing bias as though its a bad thing. If you like something; why not be proud of it. We aren't Brandon Grays and Sean Salsbury's nor are we Variety Magazine; bias is something that should be embraced as its part of a personality.

You know what; it dosen't concern me if people take me seriously or not - i put what i think on the table and if people choose to be ignorant and dismiss that because im so passionate about the show - then more fool them.
I didn't become a big fan for no reason at all - If people are mature enough they will recognise that this is a show that has a lot of support behind it - and be interested as to why rather than dismissive of its fans

P.S - Season 4 Alias; better than season 3 and MAYBE season one....hmmm

Well since i only watched like 2 episodes of 24 this season i cant judge.
But i mean; i only watched 2 episodes for a reason

Imho; the whole timeframe thing is just irritating now - and it all just gets labourous to watch. But you know i am a diehard Alias fan; so im used to fast paced.

Yes it is. Overall, the show has 2 nominations.

Outstanding Cinematography for Non-Fiction Programming (Single/Multi-Camera), for the episode "The Final Four." Other nominees are The Amazing Race, Death in Gaza, Living With Wolves, and Survivor:Palau.

And

Outstanding Picture Editing for Non-Fiction Programming (Single/Multi-Camera) for the episode "The Hangman's Noose." Other nominees are The Amazing Race, The Apprentice, and two episodes of Survivor:Palau.

I know bias is factored into alot of things but I don't think too much is good for anything.
I love Rescue ME yes, but I still think LOST, J&B, Desperate housewives, and ALIAS are better thus far. I just always seem to give alot of attention to the underdogs! Lena Olin remains as probably my favorite TV character of all time or at least in the top 3!

I respect what you said and the fact that you replied in a humane manner as opposed to lashing out. All I was just trying to get to say was maybe your infatuation is a tad excessive. I'm not accusing you or telling you to stop, it's just something I wanted to note out... and to some extent maybe some could call me a hypocrit on that statement, though I'd respectfully disagree.

I caught a part of last ngiht's Desperate Housewives repeat. Probably my favorite or second favorite episode of the season, "Guilty" in which Hatcher gets stuck in Mike's attic floor, Lynette has the breakdown in the park, Mrs. Huber gets killed off, Carlos and Gabrielle deal with Mama Solice's coma, and Bree tries to understand her son.

We had guests over but I saw some key parts and one scene that I loved, which adds to how amazing Marcia Cross is. It's when she's trying to understand or knock some sense into her son, who doesn't seem to give much a big deal that he ran over a woman and put her in a comma. Her performance in that episode shows her dramatic strength (even moreso shown in the finale). Most viewers only remember her comedic stints and well she does them, but she balances the two so well, she really stands out as the best actress on the show.

Before yesterday, Marcia was my favorite actress, though I did believe all 4 women carried the same weight and were all about equally talented in their performances (And you can't forget Edie, who withe her short stints on the show is as good as the other 4 in entire episodes). anyway, point being, I do realize now that Marcia Cross is the strongest actress on the show, much stronger than Teri Hatcher, not to mention she has the most important and daunting storyline.

I'm preparing myself for a Teri Hatcher win, though I'll still snap when she does, but I'm so hoping Marcia pulls it off. It will definitely set a new tone among the cast. It's nto that I give into all that bullshit about problems with Teri Hatcher being the star, but it would be really great to see the true shining star of the show get something and I'd love to see how that plays out among the actresses!

Um I was watching Showtime and they had a congratulatory commercial for Huff that said it was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series!!!! Um, ew? Can they get fined for false advertising? lol

Although... I wouldn't mind Huff taking over The West Wing's place.

Haha. Went a little overboard, it appears they did.

I haven't watched much Showtime other than Weeds last week (and the occasional Penn & Teller), but I have yet to see any Huff ads since last season. I'll keep an eye out for them.

I saw another one today... this time, without the Outstanding Drama nomination, lol.

Tony Shalub nominated again and deservably so. I love that Monk character. Glad Terry Oquin and that guy who plays Sayad got nominated for their roles in Lost. The most surprising nomination is for Ian Mcshane as Al SwearENGINE in Deadwood

Why is it surprising? He did win the Golden Globe this year!!

As for another Desperate Housewives update by yours truly.... another rant abour Marcia Cross.
I was watching the episode in which Andrew reveals he might be gay and Bree's guilt and confusion before the scene. For not being a mother, this actress is so astonishing in her portrayal of a desperate mother. I'm getting more and more frustrated seeing how well she does and realizing she most probably won't win!

Ah.

I watched Prison Break last night but taped the Two and a Half Men repeats. I'm rooting for Jessica Walter to win the Emmy for Supporting Actress in a Comedy, but Men's Holland Taylor and Conchata Ferrell are also deserving. Both actresses are hilarious in their roles.

Yeah, wouldn't mind if any of them win either, they were great last night.

So it's Jessica Walter-Conchata Ferrell-Holland Taylor match-up.

Doris Roberts could also surprise...Megan is out of it, I think.

They actually announced some of the juried (no nominees) awards on Aug.17th. The above link takes you to that particular page of the emmys.org site.

Notable winners:
Costumes for a Variety/Music Program - MADTv - Fox (It's official, MADTv is now a multiple emmy winner!)

Voiceover - Keith David, "Unforgivable Blackness: The Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson" - PBS (Noooooo I was actually rooting for Seth McFarlane as Stewie Griffin, ugh, darn these documentary narrations!)

Individual Achievement in Animation - talented fellas from HBO, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon got awards.

Mariska Hartigay and Glenn Close seem to be the frontrunners for Best Actress. Which sucks ass because everyone knows Garner deserves it. Shes been awarded by the two other TV authorities but no Emmy. Hell at this rate shes more likely to get an oscar in her career than an Emmy.

Source: People@ AOL
Star Jones Reynolds has her Emmy faves (on nominee Will & Grace: "still the funniest show on television"), but it's the night's fashion that really gets her gabbing. The host of E!'s red-carpet Emmys pre-show tells PEOPLE which nominees' looks she's most eager to gush over.

Jennifer Garner, Alias
She is No. 1 on my list. Jennifer Garner has classic Audrey Hepburn style. It’s done with such effortless elegance. Her hair is always right, her jewelry is always appropriate. ... You never think, "Why'd she choose that?" She knows her body and her style.

Debra Messing,Will & Grace
She's fun, whimsical, willing to take chances. She’s got the body to die for, and honestly, her hair makes every single outfit she wears. She's got the best hair in all of entertainment.

Halle Berry, Their Eyes Were Watching God
How annoying that she can put on a T-shirt and look better than 90 percent of the country when they’re putting on evening gowns. You just want to punch her.

Patricia Heaton, Everybody Loves Raymond
I like Patricia Heaton a lot. If you look back, you will see that Patricia Heaton is almost always in the top of the best dressed. Look back, and you’ll see.

Teri Hatcher, Desperate Housewives
She’s a newcomer to the Emmy red carpet, but she looks really sexy without hitting trampy. She always looks stylish, elegant and sexy.
