Goldie, do you really get the sense that I haven't given bABA and Eagle a hard time here, and do you think I would do that because we see eye to eye? Most of our discussions have had to do with my feelings of getting the shaft from them. We've had plenty of serious disagreements, to the point where they've got me boiling mad and I've done the same to them. baumer and I go back a long way, so if we get hot at eachother, it's obviously not going to be the same as if you and baumer do.

I've done things here that I shouldn't have done, and carried on things way too far, but I can admit it. I can start a thread apologizing for being a jerk, and I can send a PM to people I'm in conflict with and try to resolve things. You can't do that, and even commented that you were going to check your PM box to see if loyal and baumer had PMd you apologizing for their conduct toward you. Have you ever once considered apologizing to them for your own conduct about the quote thing? I realize that you were upset, and I'm not saying you don't have the right to feel slighted, but you still could have handled it better than you did, and you just may have got a lot further if you handled it better. So what, you weren't a part of deciding what quotes were used and what order they were put in. Is it really the end of life as you know it? It was loyal and baumer's project mostly, and you have the opportunity to think up stuff that you'd like to see done at the site just like anyone else, and run it by Eagle. If you do that and are heading up the whole thing, I'm sure you'll get to do it however it's comfortable for you, and I'm sure some will bitch. Goes with the territory. We all had an opportunity to throw out as many quotes as we wanted to. It's not a big deal, and it was 100% wrong for you to act like you did about it, and it's those kinds of things that piss people off, just like I piss people off whenever I don't act as sensible as I should, and like others do as well when they don't. I get plenty of shit when I deserve it, believe me. I get some when I don't, too.

I do agree that people need to quit baiting you, or even mentioning you, as that obviously pisses you off. Luckily, your mentioning me didn't have the same effect on me, or I might have told you that you shouldn't use other members as examples if it's going to irritate you when the same is done to you. Personally, here is what I think you should do in this situation, and I hope that you will see a bit of wisdom in my words.

You owe baumer and loyal an apology, and with no excuses for why you acted out of line, just an apology for doing so. You don't ever seem to be willing to own up to anything, from what I see, and where you are sometimes unfairly judged and baited, there are also many times where you bring lots of hard feelings on that were easily avoided, such as the whole quote thing. Imagine if that would have been me instead of you. Do you really believe anybody would have looked at me in a better light than they are looking at you for doing that? You're sadly mistaken if you think so.

Do you think that it didn't take a lot of pride swallowing for me to PM loyal and try to bury a nasty fued, or for him to reply and agree about how stupid the whole thing has been? I know it took a lot of pride swallowing on my part, and I'm glad I did it. It felt like the weight of the world had come off. You seem to have trouble letting go of your pride, and I want you to give it a try. Apologize to them without any excuses for the way you acted over the whole quotes thing, and I think you'll see that it will be a first step in the way your enemies here look at you. I don't think anybody here is really dead set against giving you any more chances, I just think they want to see something different from you before they do. Show them something different.

There should be an announcement for threads such as this one. Who knew "The Site" could be so entertaining. :pop:

Tony, I realize that many people are willing to let things go over Maverikk simply because we don't want more of the same bullshit to continue day in and day out, week in and week out, month in and MONTH OUT. Honestly, I do want something good to come of all this, but obviously it cannot happen, because apparently the younger crowd need some growing up to do, and that they need to realize that when you get older, you can't just let things go like this. I find it really odd that you would say something like that, but that's fine. I have no ill will towards you, and I assume we're still friends. I just do not take too kindly to someone publicly arguing with someone else, never once ashamed to say what they feel, and then that same person uses subtle terms to basically allude to the fact that I, including others, are wrong for wanting to let go, and not expressing our feelings and causing a longer-lasting fight that will never end. I think sorting out the differences (or just shining a bigger light on them, as you BOTH have done to annoying levels) is fine, but there's also a reason why there are private messages. If you both want the spotlight in full public view, who am I to stop either of you? If you both want to continue this for weeks, months or even years, then go right ahead! I have no authority to stop either of you, and I don't care if neither of you can allow yourselves to sort out your differences. Call me stubborn and idiotic for looking out for both of you.

Very nicely said MAV...very nicely said. Goldie is a very welcomed member of the site, I just don't need him telling me what should and shouldn't be allowed in a thread that was not organized by him. He has been told myriad of times to start his own threads and run by his own rules. I am still waiting for that to happen.

As much as I've said I don't want to get involved, I'd like to respond to this, because I am an advocate of high quality posting.

Goldie, I am really glad to read this. I don't mean it in the sense of, "yay, you're going away good riddence." I don't mean that. I mean: There are some people who thrive on conflict and animosity -- in fact, nothing energizies them like flinging insults. But if fighting tires you out, that says to me that you're not one of those people.

When you said your threads aren't worth the effort "based on user comments," you might have been referring to me, and I can accept that. I'm just not a fan of the "what's your favorite color" type polls that you seem so fond of. Maybe that kind of thread just isn't all that popular, and, as you said, those threads tend to go in undesirable directions.

I would be happy to see you spend your time writing good opinions in established threads. Talk about movies, or what you think the box office will do, or heck, jump into a political thread (wear a hard hat for those). When you're not in conflict with the posters, or posting your threads, you really do have great posts, and I go out of my way to praise it when I see it because I want to see more of that kind of post. I've noticed that when you post like that, other people read the post, evaluated the content, and answered you just as if you were any "regular" poster, and not the "much hated" Goldie that shows up in Site Threads. I think your selective posting is a great idea. :grin:

EDIT: Sorry, I guess that didn't come out right. I don't mean to limit the amount of posting; it just means that Selective posts tend to be better posts overall, and I think a well-thought Goldie post would be an asset to any thread.

Truthfully, I think the above bolded comments are incorrect, maybe I did a couple of joke / informational threads on things in the Water Cooler area over the last 10 months - but I do not usually make those kinds of threads. Bump it up if you want, cause I would like to see it. Otherwise, no big deal.

* 91% of my threads are in the Movie Section discussing the upcoming weeks movies ( the movies not the BO), a question about an upcoming or present movie or trailer, a thread about an Actor or Movie ( could be past or present ), etc.

* 3 % are in the TV area

* 3 % are in the Water Cooler when I see something interesting or funny in the news or just some informational question

* 3 % are in the BO area - mainly dealing with the final grosses of Movie Lists as I hardly ever pick opening BO #'s.

Baumer was stating that it was an event, designed by others who WERE not you. The way you acted was rude, it was callous, and it was wrong. There is a right way, and a wrong way, to question things that you feel are being done incorrectly. You picked the wrong way, and that is why everyone got so upset with you. I really don't care if you understand or agree with that, but it is the truth. Could things have been done differently, sure, but it doesnt make right the way you behaved yourself.

Goldie, Erendis simply said that she didn't enjoy the type of posts you tend to make.

She was refering to your [Poll] WHO IS THE BEST BATMAN BALE? type threads. You post alot of them, about general discussion, and I believe she was saying that she does not enjoy them ... at all. Which is a very valid point. Her own opinion. And something there was NO need for you to comment on.

As these threads were over the course of a month, I do not see the problem. If I ask some comments a week - is it really a problem. I did not even bring back the response/viewing # has to show how many people looked at these. However, I know that all of the above had some good discussions in them.

These are the kind of topics that I for one who miss as no one else brings these types of general movie questions into the movie forum. I even had to make a case to Baba for those threads to stay open as in the beginning that general movie question about this weeks opening movies when never allowed and was closed when I started to post it.

Anyway, I would like to hear from E if these are the threads that they mentioned. Just for my curiosity. Cause there is a big difference between the one E mentioned - what are you are wearing - which is very far away from a Movie Question.

Anyway, to pick an example , I only go into about 10 % of Box's many threads since I am not interested in his topics - so I stay out of them - nor do I comment on my feelings on them.

As I also said, it is pretty easy to ignore something, rather than make it a negative.

Truthfully, in the past I would have never mentioned that but I always have seen others comment that they do not like my threads. In addition, I have never seen anyone told that was not allowed by a MOD. In addition, I have seen MODS and Adm ( Baba ) mention when making comments that they do not like my threads. Never sure why they had to voice their opinion that publicly but whatever.

Quick clarification. Eagle is closer to the truth. I just don't enjoy threads that ask "What's your favorite..." or "Who do you think is the best..." and you seem to be the one posting many of those. The thread doesn't have to start with exactly those words -- I'm referring to any type of "favorites" thread, be it about movies or anything else.

I apologize for the "what are you wearing;" that's probably not your thread. For the record, I don't like those types of threads either. Both types of threads deal with the posters themselves, not with analyzing outside events.

Goldie, just keep a low profile, continue posting reasonable stuff, and don't stir stuff up. I'm not accusing you, okay? We got along greatly for the TV awards. So, why not continue that with everyone else?

I don't exactly think he pulled you back in Goldie. It's not like he was 'baiting you', or anything close.

As for the rest of your post, I do intent to clamp down on negatives from everyone, so PM me if you see them, and dont respond to them. You are also right, there is nothing wrong with taking the opposite side of a discussion as long as you do so reasonably.

You don't have to slow down your posting, but if you think it helps, obviously it is your choice.
