After this Friday Number, I say yes, it can.

I also am willing to go beyond it and claim that it can rule for 5 weeks.

I se it making over $55 million this weekend and I expect it to drop around 35% next weekend in the light of Spongebob, to around $36 million. Then I expect a slight increase over the Thanksgiving weekend. It will not be big, due to its already big weekend grosses, but it will still increase. I expect around $37 million for its 4th weekend. It will drop hard after that, to around $16 million, but if Closer really opens in only around 1000 theatres, then The Incredibles will still be able to hold on to the top spot in its 5th weekend.

Congrats to DP07 once again, for a great prediction!

I still don't think it will. Spongebob is going to own next weekend, in my opinion.

I don't know. Over here, Spongebob is not popular at all. Is it really such an American thing? I mean, I understand that it is well-known over there, but is it well-known enough to open to $40 million? :?

Spongebob is HUGE over here. It topped the most watched animated show for the past 3 years. Definently more popular than Rugrats was at the time, and Rugrats opened to about $30 million. I think Spongebob can crack $40 million. :)

Hmm...I don't know...The Incredibles and The Polar Express provide huge competition together and TV-adaptations like The Wild Thornberries, as well as Powerpuff Girls and Hey Arnold! more or less bombed.

I don't think any of them were ever as popular as Rugrats or Spongebob. Spongebob is like a phenomenon here. Every little kid I know watches the show, and apparently, the channel is really building up for the movie next weekend with new episodes and marathons all this week.

Well, at the moment, I am predicting an opening weekend of around $30 million for it, mostly due to the huge competition from The Incredibles and The Polar Express. But we shall see. :)

I'm thinking Spongebob will at least double the Incredibles' 3rd weekend. Spongebob itself will be at #1 for 3 weeks - more than Incredibles' 2 weeks at #1.

Spongebob will dethrone The Incredibles next weekend, I just don't see how it's possible it won't. This is the movie the kiddo's and stoner's have been waiting for.

I think that Incredibles will make $30-33 million at least next weekend and I don't think either National Treasure or Spongebob can make more than that...the weekend after, it could make $27-28 million and I would think that ALexander could have made more than that but maybe not in only 2300 theatres...not so sure about the Kranks either. And then Closer is in only 1,000 theatres the weekend after. I dunno, DPO7, you may have something here. I think the real test is Spongebob but I just can't imagine that doing more than $30 million.

Spongebob will surely take down the Incredibles next weekend.

$40M+ for the Sponge vs. $33M~ for Incredibles.

I actually always believed National Treasure would beat it, and I still do. In any case, I expect it to increase Thanksgiving weekend, so being #1 there should be an easier task.

I think theres too much competition for INcredibles to rule the whole month

However it's going to be a very tight race between that and SpongeBob.

Well, no such luck. I'm glad I turned out to be right about National Treasure taking the top spot. Still, I expected more from the Incredibles.

On has to admit, though, that it faced a whole lot of competition. National Treasure has the same rating as The Incredibles and it is also an adventurous movie and Spongebob provided the animated competition. he Polar Express is also still in there.
