Just finished disc two.
And I'd just like to say, this show has the coolest intro ever.

It truly does have the coolest intro ever. It's a very original show, that's for sure.

Yes, I agree. That dream sequence was very creepy. The episode was awesome, next weeks looks to be interesting as well.

Finished season one last night. Fantastic.
How would you guys rank the seasons? (Just for future reference.)

Another great episode. Good work there Rico. And George is officially insane (not that it wasn't official).
I would rank the seasons:
Season 3
Season 1
Season 2
Season 4
4 is the weakest but seasons 1-3 are all pretty even in my book.

Yeah, I've been reading around and seen many call season 4 the weakest.
And by the way, I'm counting on you two on helping nominate the show for some awards here. I'm not up to season 4 (only on disc 2 of season 2), but I'm loving the show enough to nominate it anyway.

Having just finished season two, I've come to the conclusion that Six Feet Under, while not entirely consistent, is one of TV's best dramas, if not the best.
It's insanely addictive.

I'm growing more and more convinced that everyone will die this season.

Is everyone happy right now?
Because where I'm at right now, Nate and Lisa have just made up, and they're all happy, and Lisa has just left on her trip...
And I know what happens to her.

I wouldn't say they're all happy. But they are all in strange places and there's a vibe of impending doom in the air (George on his own, Billy off his meds, Claire working in an office).
I can imagine each member or extended member of the Fisher family being murdered and or committing suicide. Even David and Keith now have a violent child living with them and Rico's formally estranged wife royally pissed off a psychotic au pair.

Heh.
How is this season so far, by the way?
I caught a little bit of last week's episode (I think it was last week's) while flipping through the channels. Ruth doing some seance-esque singing with Bettina and Sarah, etc. Didn't stay for long, though. I've gotten enough things spoiled for me.

Just finished season three: Lisa's dead, Nate's boozed up, Brenda's psychologically sound(!), Claire's now a big fan of crying, Rico's cheating, Ruth just got married, and David and Keith's relationship is now somewhat functional.
It all amounted to what I think was one of the best hours of TV I've ever seen.
I love this show, dangit.
Anyone want to talk to me about what to expect next season?

I don't think so. The show is obviously playing tricks on its viewers. They have did this before. I don't believe he is dead, but I could be wrong. The fact that there was no preview for next weeks really pissed me off.

I'm still a huge fan of the show (avatar action is staying), but I just finished season four and was disappointed. Easily the least emotionally involving season yet.
Claire, for the first time, got on my nerves. George and Ruth's relationship was tiresome (except for the episode in which Frances Conroy is up for an Emmy; she was incredible in that one). The revelation about Lisa's death was anti-climactic and unrealistic. Nate isn't the same Nate he was back in seasons one and two. And David's car-jacking, which I was anticipating to be heavy material, was pretty much just a basis for a lot of whining.
Brenda's still got me, though. Go, Brenda.
I'll be catching up on season five real quick.

So I get half a cookie. The pace of the show seemed off and I now know why.

Finally caught up. And what an episode to catch up on.
Nate's death even made CNN: http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/TV/08/0 ... index.html
I read a whole article a while ago speculating that a major character would be killed off, most likely Nate, so I don't know if I'm still reeling or just kind of finding it humorous that they were right on the money.
What are you guys making of this?

I knew roughly around 15 minutes in that something was off.
I hope they kill off more Fishers, go out crazy style.
Reality TV obsessed nanny kills Rico and Vanessa (not a Fisher but close enough)
Durrell kills David and Keith
George kills Ruth
Claire shoots up the office, kills herself
Billy kills Brenda
Maggie lives happily ever after, raising Mya as a Quaker.

Hee. And Rico and Vanessa's kids? Quakers, too?
Thinking back, I'm not even sure if Nate's death really did that much for me. Emotion-wise. I mean, it was shocking that they did it, but he just cheated on Brenda (who's been nicer and more maternal than ever this season), said he wanted to end their marriage, and didn't really show much regard for anyone but himself in wanting this "peace" he spoke of. I thought Brenda's "narcissist" comment was a little harsh at the time, but now I realize, she was pretty much right on the money.
Nate's still the protagonist, though, and the audience has made a five season connection with him.
I just don't know...
