Those were some fast deliberations. Just this morning they were replacing jurors with alternates and speculating on a mistrial or a hung jury. Now he's guilty already?

Yea, I kind of agree with you. I'm mixed on the death penalty issue. On one side, I don't think it's right to take someone's life, even if they commited a serious crime. But on the other, I think about how I would feel if I were Laci's father or brother. Or rather, if something happened to someone in my family. I would probably want the person who did it dead.

I used to feel the same way. But now i disagree with the death penalty. I justthink its srota twisted "dont murder, or we will murder you." I feel sory for laci's family and they will be in everyones prayers Im sure, but death just seems a bit to vengful..

I know. I was watching the Today Show this morning, and these people were on talking about it. And one of them even said that he predicted a verdict would be reached today.

Your right, and I dont think prison is going to be a cake walk for him either.

He will most likely be brutally murdered in prison. I hope so he deserves it.

I wonder if he'll get special protection since the case was everywhere...on the news, the radio, the internet and the newspapers.

I don't know. I know,(this sorta relates) here in kentucky, there was a priest who was convicted of child molestation and he went to prison and got killed 2 weeks later. Obviously he didnt get to much protection...Im sure he got raped as well, a taste of his own medicine if you ask me

Yea, I've heard many things like that. I would think that they wouldn't care what happened to him, so they wouldn't give him special protection. But who knows. I don't think he should, anyway.

As a lawyer, I see the inner workings of our judicial system every day. It's not perfect. We do the best we can, but sometimes guilty people get found innocent and innocent people get found guilty.

And that's why I am against the death penalty -- because we are not perfect. Because we make mistakes. Because people have been put to death who were later found to be not guilty.

I didn't follow this story and can't understand why it was given so much attention.

But I did hear one thing a month or so ago that struck me as really odd, since we were blanketed with coverage and couldn't avoid it. The father in law had severely criticized Peterson for going fishing on Christmas and ridiculed the idea, yet it turned out that he himself had been out on a boat in that same area that morning and had hidden that fact till it was revealed.

Anyone else think that is really odd? No doubt in my mind that Peterson is guilty, but sometimes I wonder if there's another layer to it all that hasn't come out yet.

We have a coupl of murder trials in the pipeline here in my area, and they're fairly interesting too, but no one is paying attention to them because the victims are poor and/or black.

I have no idea why this one murder case is getting so much attention.

I'm against the death penalty too, but more on the moral grounds. Guilty or not, I don't feel that it is within our rights to take another person's life, no matter how horrible they are.
