l 09 2005 Loyal Mehnert Reviews: Fantastic Four [link]
Jul 08 2005 WoKJ Weekend Box Office Predictions [link]
Jul 07 2005 David's: Weekend Box Office Analysis [link]
Jul 04 2005 Movie Review: March of the Penguins [link]
Jul 02 2005 Box Office Analysis: Fantastic Four [link]

************************

Not sure how this works but seeing Loyals name there and knowing he gave it a D.

I would like to have a differing one that liked it - know Mav gave it an A for example.

*************************

Maybe you could put 2 of each up - one for each - I liked it / I didn't like it. or maybe a B or over and a C or under.

and maybe anyone who sees it on opening day can send it in for you guys to review and you put the best ones up.

goldie, people all have their schedule for reviews. once zingy gets time to write a review, he will put one up to. so will i. we always put up contrasting views whenever we watch the same movies and review them.

but what if Z ended up hating it also.

just wondering - could someone - a regular joe - decide they want to see a movie on opening day and submit a review?

could it get posted if it was good enough?

it depends. anyone can write one for an early screening but otherwise, we haven't looked into it
but just to let you know, my review of the movie ends with a B+ so there will be a contrasting opinion

I'll probably write a review for F4 tomorrow night, since I'll probably see it tomorrow (or hopefully, today).

ok your choice but I would think that by the end of opening day would still be acceptable to submit.

*************

note this is not neagtive but you said you and Z are writing reviews that aren't there yet so I don't think that it would hurt that a non regular columnist submits it on opening day and not early.

***************

I just think someone who gets his review posted would be cool for that person and it would bring more interest to the site.

Just in my humble opinion.

goldie.

this site does not and for the moment cannot have a dedicated staff. no one earns an ounce of money out of it and in many ways, though we're all trying to make it professional at the end of the day, for the moment, because no one sees any monetary benefit from it, its a haven for us to have fun and speak mainly about our common interest. I still have to go to work. zingy still has to go to school. the fact that the early screening took place on thursday as oppsed to wednesday threw my schedule off.

so a review for the moment at any time is acceptable as long as we can get atleast one up early. thats the criteria for the moment and as long as the reviewer is honest about his/her grade, i'm not bothered by it. the regulars who read our site know we have multiple reviews for movies so i'm sure they can tell that the reviews are more representative of the reviewer and not the site itself.

Baba is right mostly.

However I also want to add soemthing:

You speak of contrasting reviews, the one thing you have to be careful of, is what if the movie just plain sucks? Our main site reviewers have their own opinions, when they go see a movie, and they have time to submitt a review, they simply voice that opinion. What I don't want to do is subconciously alter their opinions to help the site have contrasting reviews.

Now as per your other suggestions. If you are wondering if I could put multiple links to different reviews in a single row of the recent articles section. Yes thats a possibility. If you would like to see that, let me know, and I can look into it.

As for a normal user submitting reviews.

Give me a week, maybe two, and I will work something up so that if a user wants, they can submitt a review. Like you said, it will have to meet a certain level or standard of writing. Mostly just nothing to lude, readable, and no glaring errors. That can easily be accomplished, so just give me a little while and I will take care of that and we can see if there is interest.

That's fair and cool - as long as it meets certain basic standards.

Just put a link at the end of reviews to the appropriate everyone's a critic thread and if a review is overly negative or positive it might spur someone to post for the first time to say how they think the review is wrong. That way even a review that is out of step with opinion could be a plus.

bump

Links are fine but hopefully Eagle will follow through on his above words as the Critics forum gets bogged down with too many extras that if someone wanted to write a special quality review it would get buried there

when it would be much better served, for the poster and the site, to be allowed to be to stand by it self - again if it meets the quality standards.

No need to bump it. I will work on it, just give me about a week ... two weeks at the max to integrate it.

That's cool. and I only bumped it cause the direction seemed to change with the Critics idea section - so I wanted to point out my problem with that.

No reply needed.
