You know the drill.

The Polar Express is getting booked on 5 SCREENS!!! at my place. Could this be a blockbuster?

I see nothing but dissapointment for this one. It will not make over $35 million for the weekend, I can assure you now. Over the 5-day, yeah, it'll make $35 million, but not just over the weekend. People would rather see some funny family movies, and The Polar Express doesn't look all that appealing, especially to older audiences and teens, like The Incredibles did.

Scott, can you make this thread for ALL crowd reports and screen counts? Someone might open up another one if they think that this is only for The Polar Express, and we really don't need 2 threads. Thanks.

On Wednesday, at AMC Mercado 20, Polar Express is in 4 screens during the day and 3 at night for a total showtimes of 13. Only a few showtimes fewer than The Incredibles.

Elf was a comedy. The Grinch was a comedy (or so they say). The Polar Express is not. Being Christmas related doesn't make it a blockbuster hit. Hell, even Elf only opened to $30 million.

Can we try to avoid titling these threads "Screen Counts and Crowd Reports for ________"? I mean, some of us aren't going to be seeing that given movie.

I understand your concerns. The reason why I put Polar Express on there is because it is a Wednesday opener and that is what is being focused on until the weekend. Once the Movie opens (tomorrow) then the title will get changed to the November 12-14 weekend.

I actually wanan see Polar Express. I like the looks of it. Its baed on a cute book, and the local critics are hailing it an instant classic, they seem to think it is superior to The Incredibles.

The animation looks pretty, but, the movie looks like it lacks excitement.

Opening: $37.4m

Teh Incredibles will stay at #1.

For Scott's theater, besides Polar Express, After the Sunset, Bridget Jones, and Seed of Chucky are all getting 2 screens, while Sideways is getting 1 screen.

Correction.

Bridget Jones is getting 2 screens, plus one interlocked screen at night. Polar Express is getting 5 screens plus one interlocked screen in the day. At least you the the After the Sunset and Chucky counts right.

FYI
The After the Sunset sneak was sold out in our 150 seater last Saturday, and the Polar Express sneak was 46% full in our 300 seater. Could this affect predictions.

Considering that the sneaks for Team America and Shall We Dance? led us in the completely wrong direction, I won't count on sneaks to help me predict anymore.

The 4:20pm showing of the 3-D IMAX version was SOLD OUT at the LCE METREON in San Francisco on Wednesday.

I was seeing THE INCREDIBLES, which was also sold out in a 300 seater...

Saw the Incredibles by myself again.

Edwards Mira Mesa Stadium 18
2:50
600 seater, 97% full (VERY impressive)

Trailers -
The new Dreamworks film with all the animals :P - Some laughs
Star Wars Episode 3 - Nothing... Maybe because it was full of children, haha.
National Tresure - Nada.
Chicken Little - Some talks, looks bleh to me.
Cars - Some talks, looks ok, nothing too impressing yet.

The movie was just as good the first time, so much fun. Can't wait for the DVD. (Which will probaly be a year from now... *sigh*)
Was going to see Birth with my mom and her friends or The Polar Express by myself but I could wait to rent em them on DVD.

I saw the Incredibles at our sister theater at Downtown Disney.

4:00 (261 seater) - about 70% full.

Trailers
Spongebob
Son of the Mask
Madacascar
Pooh's Humfalump Movie.
Some Star Wars Movie
Cars.

As for the movie, story telling in animation these days doesn't get any better than this. Just like the two old man say "Old School meets the New School." Hilarious and fun to watch. That Boundin cartoon was a delight too.

Grade: A

OMG! You actually want to pay $8 dollars of hard earned cash on that piece of shit film? I feel sorry for you. You should make a wiser choice, no offense.
