Actually, I just listened to some of the Candian Idol 2 mp3 on http://www.idolmedia.tv, and yeah, the talent (imo) isn't as good as the AI talent.

Brandy Callahan

She had a decent voice, but she looked like a 300 pound cabage patch doll. The fact that she was only, like, 4'8" didn't really help either.

Manoha Heartman

She sucked.

Joshua Seller

Kind of like a combination of Clay Aiken and Kalan Porter, but minus the talent.

Keleb Simmonds

He's sort of a love him or hate him, a la John Stevens (but not as bad). I was in the latter, since 90% of his singing was flat and his pitch was always mangled.

Elena Juatco

There was absolutly nothing special about this girl...except that she acted like an escaped mental patient somtimes. But yeah, she didn't have a very unique sound.

Shane Wiebe (aka Greg Kinnear)

Pretty bland. It's weird that he made it as far as he did.

Jason Greely

Another weirdo. He had a knack for picking the worst songs (Saturday Night's Allright, Bad Case of Loving You) and his vocal range was one of the more limited.

Jacob Hoggart

I'll admit it: I liked Jacob. Sure he wasn't a very good singer from a technical standpoint, but when he picked the right song, he was a star.

Theresa Sokyrka

One of my personal favorite Idols from any Idol show. She had the rare talent of being understated and not coming off as boring. Here voice was sexy and soulfull. I highly recomend downloading her rendition of "Good Mother" (idolmedia), which showcased her warm personality and understated talent.

Kalan Porter

There was pretty much no doubt in anyone's minds that he was going to win. Strong voice and tone. For me though, he lacked charisma and personality (he was like a robot that was programed to hit all the right notes). The videos for his last two singles were kind of creepy too :???:

Now, there's some of the talent we've been missing. Some of the guys were a disaster, so I'm pretty sure this time, a woman will win. I'm pretty disapointed that the french opera singer got the cut so early on. I thought she was fantastic in her first audition.

I thought that was pretty damn bad. Usually the group songs are the best of the entire season, and so many people forgot the words and it was just a very disappointing hour. There are a few women with good voices that I might be inclined to vote for, but the males are horrible. I think the talent pool in Canada is already thinning in a big way. Zach making people cry though, that's hilarious.

Jesus, about 4 seconds of screen-time for my early pick, Casey [-( .

This is the time where the voters start picking their favourites and screen-time is very important. I think that rocker girl probably already has a fan-base going :-k .

The concept? I think the execution is far more hilarious than the concept itself, but that's just me. I find it difficult getting into this show at all.

Don't get your hopes up, because tonight's show is very telling of the lack of talent this year, especially in comparison to last year.

But, Casey did make it through to the top 32, so I'm still in the driver's seat  .

Tonight I saw something that resembled talent in a few of the contestants, most of them girls. Suzy surprised me with I Have Nothing, I didn't think she could pull it off, but it was one of few non-cringeworthy performances of the night. A lot of the "There You'll Be" performances though, those were bad.

Wow, there are a couple of good girls, but I don't think I saw one good male singer. And that's pretty sad. I have a feeling now that the rocker girl will probably go all the way, seeing that she's one of the few that can actually sing.

Now that the contestants are finally narrowed down I was able to see much more talent. There are several people whom I thought had excellent voices, and I can't wait for all of them to finally be exposed (as they focus on certain people through editing).

PEACE, Mike ;)

Oh god. That first 5 minutes made me cower because of the amateurism. Oh god Ben Mulroney! That was ghastly! We need Ryan Seacrest!!!! Anyways, tonights performances could all be summed up like this: meh. No one blew me away, and a couple of them really blew. First guy, I've already forgotten about him. (But are the judges living under a rock? I've heard that song at least 3 times, just today!). Second girl, I'll go with Zach and say what the hell was that? Not impressed. The french girl was ok, nothing special. Fourth guy (or is it girl? he sounds like a woman!) was the same thing (I think he'll get through since the Claymates: Canadian Edition will love him). That cuban girl was pretty good, but Summertime has been sung too many times and that'll turn off lots of people. The sixth guy was probably the best of the night. He had a great voice. Seventh girl could be good, but I wasn't impressed. Last girl was also pretty good. She'll probably get in. Overall, a pretty weak show.

I thought Jenn was the best of the night. Her style of singing is not to my liking, but she sang it loud and clear and with conviction. I would put pretty much everyone else in the 'OK' category with the exception of Dianelys, who is a female version of Caleb from last years Idol.......which is to say she is hideously atrocious =; .

 Saying anyone is like Kaleb is like a slap in the face! That guy was hideously, ear- splittingly awful and shouldn't even be close to Dianelys. I will now refer to "him" as "He who must not be named for fear of hideously bad singing". It's long, but it's better than him!

I liked Melody and Jenn, and want them both to go through, but am not going to waste any time on voting for them - because I don't really care that much and can't muster up enough energy to care about this group which was just one big ball of meh.

I really truly hated Kaleb and I don't think Dianelys is in his group. I would compare her more to quirky Jenny Gear (who for the longest time I thought was riding the small bus to school) than to Kaleb

Can you seriously tell me that you weren't reaching for the remote during those "scat" sequences during Summertime? I mean, those noises she was making were not of this earth  .

I think the difference between her and Kaleb is I was muting him for the entire song (after I wised up) and with her it was just briefly, during the afformentioned scatting. Either way I don't see her going through to the next round.

That's a perfect comparison. They both have a pretty jazzy style and have a similar singing voice. I still don't think she'll get in though.

Just ask yourself, which one looks most like an Idol, they usually win. It worked for me when I guessed Nadia or Carrie would win American Idol. I'm not trolling or joking btw, I do think that is as good a way as any to guess the eventual winner.

So you thought Ruben or Clay looked like an Idol? :???:

Dianelys, in my humble opinion, was the best of the bunch last night. Other than that weird girl in the red dress, she was the only one with a distinct voice and an original vocal style. If I had to pick the second, I would go with Cher merley because she has the potential to be that one contestant who gets beaten up by the judges, yet somehow makes it far because Canada likes her little outfits and her Ashley Simpson wannabe vibe. However, knowing Canada, I wouldn't be surprised if one of the guys got voted through.

Well no shock there. Daryl I can see start to get on my nerves a bit. I have a feeling he'll choke in the top 10. Ashley seems to have a lot of potential and tonight she was better than last night. I would have liked to have seen Stephane get through, but I didn't expect that. I'm 95% sure that Jen and Dianelys will be back for the Wild Card and I actually think Dianelys will get through.

I predicted Daryl getting through, just because he is the closest thing to Kalan Porter this year and the voting has reflected that. However, he is not even a pimple on the ass of Kalan in terms of talent, in fact, he is incredibly annoying. I was expecting the second person through to be Jenn, but was very happy that Ashley made it, as she was my favourite vocalist of those first 8 contestants.
