Bush only has a seven vote lead. That's considered over?

What makes you think there will be anything left for future generations to see? All will be lost! None will live to remember it!

I'm a Red Sox fan. I am never comfortable until the final out in the 9th inning is recorded. In this case, I will not be comfortable until Bush has 270. That's just me though. :)

Andaroo,

You make a good point, but I am thinking of it a little different. I agree that it is his right to wait untill all the ballots are counted. But that it is irrational for him to actually think it will change anything, the provisional ballots will not break 90-10 like they would have to.

The problem I have with this is that people will wake up tomorrow and think that the same problems happened again, they will lose even more faith in the election system, and that is troubling to me.

See this link?? Trust me.. It's over.. You've got Bush for another 4 years, however, if there is 1 remotely positive thing to say about this?? It's that in 4 years, he'll be out of office since a President can only serve 2 terms.. This is the only positive thing I can think of.. Now the question starts now: John Kerry, Presidential Hopeful: What went wrong?? I'll tell you where John Kerry blew it with 2 points of fact:

1) Many voters had made up their minds over a year ago or so that they were gonna stick with Bush no matter what and they wouldn't hear of anyone else taking over this country.. They honestly feel he's the one to lead this country no matter of our economy is at an all time low or not.... How the hell could they re-elect this guy???

2) John Kerry just didn't reach out as much as what he should've while campaigning and quite frankly, he has all the charisma of a stick... The guy looks remarkably like Herman Munster and it boils down to the fact that he just didn't connect with alot of people like he should've early in the race.. Thoughts??

Unfortunately, it is, unless they discover some really crazy discrepanies in Ohio vote counting... There are only 130,000 (I'm assuming that's about a correct estimate) or so provisional ballots in Ohio, Bush is leading by 125,000, very hard to believe that their majority will go to Kerry... So, I don't mind Kerry/Edwards waiting for it to be counted, as he said "one more night", but if after counting it Bush comes ahead I believe they will do the right thing....

And good night, for the third and final time...

The key to this election actually turned out to be moral values.

Bush has them, Kerry doesnt.

Cathliocs and Christians won the election, as I see it anyway.

Eagle,

It's wonderful to see that you think the next four years is going to bring great tidings, but you must sympathize with the many of us who are disappointed or crushed because of things like... well this...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/3971271.stm

Granted... it's China, but still, it is a symptom of what is going on.

Look at it this way, despite the fact that Kerry is about as weak of a presidential canidate as you could possibly get (worse than Dole probably), nearly half the voting populace of the country voted for him, enough to make this an obviously close race for the White House.

That has got to give you a pause. Many of us feel that we are going to continue the slide as a country we've been on. Granted, Kerry didn't really delve into domestic issues, but Bush has hardly approached them in his term, focusing more of his energy on Iraq and terrorism, which are indeed problems but not the only problems we face as a people.

A lot of people reach for McCain as an example of someone they feel is a republican, but is a responsible republican, one that won't destroy the country as many of us feel.

The best I can hope for at this point is suspended animation... that our foreign policy won't get worse (which is a pipe dream), that business, despite what else is going on (oil? steel? unemployment?) will slowly start to recover. Although it looks like we (despite the President Elect) are sliding into another recession. I'm worried that my brother-in-law won't be able to get out of the military next year (on schedual) because we have no clear foreign agenda in regards to the conflict in Iraq, and that terrorism will continue to be a threat while we give away more of our civil liberties. The supreme court imbalance? Worried about that to.

So while some of you are gloating, know this, this is going to be a tough 4 years for Bush. I do not think this country will fall apart, but already politics is getting so heated that people are breaking out into near fisticuffs about issues. Your civil unrest will continue to grow, and we're going to continue to polorize.

This is why I voted against Bush. I don't love Kerry, but I thought he could buy us a little time to catch our breath before finding someone who could really lead us.

I am genuinely worried.

You mean the election is about "percieved moral values"

Because sending men to their deaths in Iraq, and in the process killing thousands of innocents in the name of "weapons of mass destruction" which don't exist is not a particularly moral thing to do.

And the Pope would agree with me.

Kerry was just to un-charismatic,Nothing about him really said:Man,this guy is the truth!

It would of been much better for the dems if someone like Dean or clark ran for president.

You know, looking back on it, if Howard Dean had kept his mouth shut and not let out that goddamn primal scream like he did, he might of been a Presidential hopeful instead of Kery.. That 1 scream changed the course of his campaign and probably career period..

I have serious doubts that this thing is over. CNN has it as 254-252 for Bush. I'm not going to get all depressed so quickly, because realistically, this isn't over. We probably won't know the definete winner until next week.

Question to my Democrat friends on board:
For weeks you've been saying we should scrap the electoral college and simply go with the popular vote. Well, Bush won by 3.5 MILLION votes overall, seven times the margin of Gore.
If Kerry finds some way to manufacture the votes he needs in Ohio (very, very unlikely, BTW), shouldn't he still concede so as not to make it look like he STOLE the election ... the same charge made against Bush four years ago?
Or have your views on the electoral college system changed now that it could favor a Democrat?

Bush has already won. He'll get Ohio, New Mexico and Iowa. That it 284-252. Even if he loses both those states, he wins 272-264.

No, no democrat here (that I can see) has accused Bush of winning the election unfairly, just disappointment about the outcome. So your post ends up being a little spiteful and trolling, in my view.

I'm still not in favor of the electoral system, regardless who ends up winning.
