Jenny Ortega is in negotiations to join the franchise as Lydia's (Ryder's) daughter. Keaton, Ryder and O'Hara along with Tim Burton are returning with production starting in 2-3 months. It's the movie follow up from the team that brought Wednesday to monster success.

How is this going to do? I'm seeing major breakout potential on this. Not at a TGM level but they are playing their cards right here pulling Ortega in and Burton is definitely due for a big movie box office comeback which this could become. His last monster hit was probably Alice in 2010.

I'm seeing $150M+ potential here. Original was pre Batman + Keaton 1989 Batman success before the bigger storm but think there are enough ingredients here to keep it new and fresh that this could really surprise on the upside.

Wednesday is also now Netflix's 2nd biggest hit of all time and in the realm of Squid Game and Stranger Things success and feel like Beetlejuice could very well play close to a movie pairing to Wednesday's TV fans as there's more overlap on themes than say Scream.

Jenny Ortega is going to get typecast as the goth chick but yes that is smart casting right now.

Very happy for Jenna as have been a fan since You S2. Even though I’m not keen on Wednesday she’s great on it abs deserves this success.

I’ve never seen the first Beetlejuice so not sure what to think but with Keaton back - the nostalgia should get this over $100m.

Beetlejuice 2 release date set!! Coming out September 2024 which is perfect for it as it seems like it would work well in the fall.

Keaton is back post Flash.

Ortega is in post Scream.

Ryder back post Stranger Things.

Tim Burton back as director.

Very excited and think nostalgia and fun factor on this is big for a reboot + 80s/90s nostalgia.

And Catherine O’Hara in after Schitt’s Creek. I feel like all 3 returning actors are relevant again and the addition of Ortega will be huge for this franchise.

William Dafoe, Justin Theroux and Monica Bellucci in supporting roles.

Danny Elfman is doing the score. Plan B (Brad Pitt's company) is co-producing with Tim Burton.

Costume designer Colleen Atwood who did Edward Scissorhands, Sweeney Todd and Wednesday will be doing costumes.

Will be a good barometer of what a "Netflix hit" is worth at the box office. Feels like Beetlejuice 2 is becoming almost like a theatrical sequel to Wednesday with much of the same team working on this.

Looks great. I feel like it's going to be a lot of fun and looks good for $150M+.

Idk how much of the younger audience has seen Beetlejuice (I haven't personally) but tapping into the Burton/Ortega combo for this was such a good decision.

I actually saw the cartoon before I saw the original movie in syndication. It ran on ABC and FOX. 90s kids probably discovered it from that. The Wednesday crowd will be there in droves.

Winona's comeback with Stranger Things and Beetlejuice will follow RDJ's as remarkable turnarounds. Hope Keaton gets some awards recognition here too.

Keaton has aged remarkably well. I have no idea how this will do. I am of the mind that the original was extremely 'of its time' and would guess 95% of people under the age of 25 haven't seen it. Keaton is also far from a star.

But contemporary audiences certainly have shown a love for this type of resurrection, so we'll see.

The original is totally irrelevant with younger audiences but Jenna Ortega was very smart casting and could remedy that.

I could see an OW in the 50s if it's good.

'Halloween costume movies' have been very IN and Gen Z seems to be in love with WB's embrace of quality creativity, could see this blowing up

I haven’t kept up with the box office like I used to. Why is this coming out the September 6? I guess they’re looking for The Nun II numbers?

80s nostalgia, maybe like IT (2017)? That opened the same day.

New trailer came out today and is trending at #1 on YT. It looks like such a fun time and doesn't take itself too seriously. Seems like its going to be a multi quadrant hit and 2 months before Halloween could hang around for a while.

If it is any good, should be a solid hit but people need to keep expectations in check, there was never pent up demand for this to be a $80m weekend opener

I think this could be a mini TGM. It has 80s icons and gained a big following over time. Could see a Hocus Pocus 2 type reception here if that had gone theatrical.

I like that the vfx looks campy like in the original.
I think if the movie is good that it could be a 120-150m hit.
I trust keaton to bring his a game but im not sure about Burton.

Beetlejuice presales have started. Its having a blockbuster release for one and presales are solid so far. It appears the expectation is for it to open in 70-80m range. But let us see how the hype goes. Its way bigger than what I had expected considering Burton has not had a hit in eons and he rode the 3D wave for the last mega blockbuster.

70m sounds a bit much. Kind of expecting 45 or something but we'll see.

The original adjusts to 196m so a 70m OW gets it around there.

That was what I thought. But it has blockbuster release and presales bigger than Godzilla.
