Re: Release Date Change Thread
Interesting idea to have them so close together. Will WB put part 1 on Max the week before Part 2 opens? Both could definitely be huge. Fits the recent trends of underserved audiences pushing a film made for them to heights we could never dream of. I think they are at worst second round picks in the draft for next year.

Don't know why they switched them in the first place when Cap was finished filming and Deadpool was not. Cap 4 is not a sure thing while Deadpool 3 is. That is why Disney would want their biggest movie in that slot. Obviously SAG strike crushed their plans. Otherwise it would have made it. After the way MCU is looking with the Marvels, not sure Cap 4 without Chris Evans is going to change anything.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
Mission Impossible 8 has been delayed to May 2025.
Was really hoping to see it sooner but I think a shift to May is good for it and will give people more time to discover the last movie.
A Quiet Place prequel has shifted to June 2024 from March and Spongbob sequel shifted to Dec. 2025.
Crazy considering Mission Impossible 7 started this series in filming in Feb. 2020. With this delay these two movies between a pandemic and actor's strike will span 5.5 years. That doesn't even include the pre-production work, script writing, etc. Those too MI movies will probably be 7 ish years of work behind them. Hope the box office materializes for the next one.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
FYI
Disney just pushed Elio (June) and Snow White (still March) to 2025.
We will see more delays. Does this mean SAG strike is not getting resolved this year :-(

Sheesh. It's like pandemic delays all over again. Think we'll get a lot more concert films next year lol

Shack wrote: Let the era of non-superhero summer kickoff movies begin It's mindblowing but I had to go all the way back to 2006 to find a non-superhero movie that opened the summer in late April/first week of May. It was Mission Impossible 3 (not counting 2020/21). Though 2005 (Kingdom of Heaven) and MI were big disappointments at the time. The last movie to do huge box office on first weekend of May that wasn't a comic movie was The Matrix 2 in 2003. Arguably we could count Fast and Mario as "opening the summer" but they were early April.

Re: Release Date Change Thread
In 2003 - X2 opened the summer with Matrix Reloaded the weekend before Memorial Day weekend. What a May that was!
Maybe we have to go back tp 2001 and The Mummy Returns. (Van Helsing in 04 wasn't that big).

Re: Release Date Change Thread
Van Helsing was also a comic book too. Looks like have to go back to 01 for a movie that opened the summer (Mummy 2) that did well that wasn't a comic book movie.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/compani ... r-AA1jJts5WB's villain leader Zazlav has shelved Coyote V Acme for the $30m tax right off. Word on the project is that it was very good and most likely would have been a decent earner.

He's somehow "earned" $500 million since 2018, nearly half of which was in 2021 alone. Surely he can take afford to take a cut in salary for a couple years?

I've never seen The Abyss but remember as a kid some teens talking about it. Always intrigued me.
BTW:
“The Fall Guy” is now landing in theaters on May 3, 2024

Great move by The Fall Guy. Summer kickoff date gives it major breakout potential.

Dune 2 has moved up 2 weeks! First weekend of March now.
Wise move. Oscars are March 10th and they'll put Timothy and cast likely everywhere.
