I read the whole thing on accident, and needless to say there should be a huge spoiler warning before it. I'm one of the few people on earth that seemingly likes Pairs, but she needs to learn how to keep her mouth shut about movies she's in.

She's just, so, proud of dying in this movie. It's a bit weird. Though, audiences around the world will probably be cheering the scene.

Ah well, she's a "clever" business woman. Deeeeeeep down inside.

Eeeek. lol.

Emm, check this out:

Theatre Count Estimate at BOM has HOUSE OF WAX for:

House of Wax Warner Bros. 3,000+

Yay! If it can manage a $5,000 pta, then it will be settled for a solid $15M weekend.

I'm beginning to think that this might be one of the summer's biggest surprises. I could see an $18 million opening and $50-60 million finish, or possibly more.

Other DARK CASTLE opening PTA's:

Gothika- 2,382 theaters, $8,097 average
Thirteen Ghosts- 2,781 theaters, $5,453 average
House on Haunted Hill - 2,710 theaters, $5,884 average
Ghost Ship- 2,787 theaters, $4,127 average

So, HOUSE OF WAX will be their first movie to open in over 3,000 Screens.

So even if HOW gets their lowest PTA record, (Ghost Ship's $4,127) Then thats still a solid $12,381,000 Weekend Bow.

However, if it's closer to HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL and THIRTEEN GHOSTS, thats a weekend nearer to $17,000,000.

Considering that horror is bigger this year than all the others, the trailer is a lot more effective, the star power that will bring teens in, and the mass marketing headlined by the "see Paris Hilton die!" lines, I could see this opening big. The release date is great.

Opening: $19.5 million
Total: $50.7 million

Think this might do pretty good.

Lots of reasons teenagers will like this movie

House of Wax looks like a cool idea.

Then different actors for different people / reasons.

Paris / EC / Chad

Only questions again - just like the same one asked for Sin City.

Will the R hurt the BO at all? R might bring in some more older people but will teens sneak in.

That's pretty much a given that teens will sneak in. It shouldn't have a huge impact since Hide and Seek wasn't too hurt.

Reel Source has its opening tracked at $33M. Yeah, I first laughed at that number as well, but now I actually think it's not that outrageous. It is still too high IMO, but 25M is certainly possible, because the sign from the Internet is extremely strong:

1. No. 8 on Yahoo's Movie Buzz list and moving up;
2. No. 1 on the Top Searched/Clicked Movie list: http://movies.yahoo.com/mv/boxoffice/, and the list is on the right side;
3. No. 4 most watched trailer;
4. No. 4 at moviefone.

It could be that it is all due to Paris Hilton, and people who searched for House of Wax were only interested in her and had no interest in seeing the movie, but the tracking still looks good.

I'm not surprised. With all the other big horror movies this year, and Paris Hilton, this could easily do $25 million.

As sad as this is, the *only* reason I would even consider seeing this movie is to see Paris Hilton die.

I mean, I doubt I'll see it, but I wouldn't be surprised if Hilton's death contributes to $10M of this movie's opening weekend alone.

I'm very excited to see her die. It's not only one reason for going to see it, but I can't wait for the scene.

The internet world seems pumped for the scene, too.

A review of House of Wax. The person loved it! :)

http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/display.cgi?id=20051

Quote:
Sorry boys! I haven't written in a long time.

This girl was invited to the premiere of HOUSE OF WAX!

I wanted to bathe in the soapy mess that was the beginning of Paris Hilton's acting career!

If you're looking for a scenery-chewing killer ala Vincent Price---look elsewhere!

Here's the story in a nutshell:

Teens get lost going to (insert plot driver). (They get lost/car breaks down/stop to have sex) - pick one. "Kind" stranger leads them to safety. Their haven turns out to be a deathtrap from hell.

Backstory involves twin boys. One severely mutilated because of a surgical procedure (no spoilers here) and the other suffers from anger management issues. Both are severly demented. Father is a disgraced surgeon and mother is a wax artist. Mix this together and there is logical explanation as to why the boys are making this town of wax and making wax figures of real victims.

What did I think of this movie? I can't believe I'm saying this but not only did I like the movie but (God, please don't strike me down) I LOVE this movie!

Here are my reasons:

1-This is a very hard R-rated movie. No cutaways during the death scenes. It's all in gory display.

2-The killers are very disturbing and the backstory was sound enough to make sense (within the boundaries of the movie, of course).

3-The opening scene sets the plate for the rest of the movie. Nice ode to "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" that is reiterated later during a chasing/stalking scene.

4-All the actors play archetypal roles but don't bungle them. INCLUDING MS. PARIS HILTON. (Damn! I really wanted her to fail)

5-You knew who was going to live and who was going to die but the audience, including myself rooted for these killers to get "waxed". (Sorry I had to say it)

6-Wax People are just disturbing and nice job of Joel Silver to rediscover this. Too bad the wax museum in "Cursed" wasn't this fun.

Bad things (minor stuff):

1-I can't remember a single character's name except "Vincent" (a nod to Mr. Price, I assume) and "Bo" (the killers). The rest were just indistinguishable.

2-There are no winning performances. This was definitely a director's reel to be proud of but the actors didn't stand out from the material.

3-NO 3-D! The original was in 3-D and had a memorable paddle ball scene to prove it. It added to the fun. Half a point off the fun-meter for no 3-D.

I give this movie a positive review despite the clunkers that Dark Castle has produced (13 Ghosts, Ghost Ship and Gothika---terrible, terrible movies). Also check out the original. Both are incomparable to each other but both are great.

I wanted to avoid giving a spoiler away but here's a small tidbit:

At the premiere, after Paris Hilton's character is killed, a young girl shouted, "That's hot!" Audience had a good laugh and I looked over at Paris and she laughed and took in good sport but had a shit-eating grin on her face, at the end. I guess I'm not the only one who wanted Paris to fall flat on her face.

Forever yours,

Roxy Hart

God, I can't wait for this movie. A little over a week left to wait. Nice hard R-rating. This is probably my most anticipated horror movie....since Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
