Re: 94th Oscar nominations
Power of the Dog is probably winning Best Picture after getting 12 nominations and 4 actors, Belfast missing Editing and Cinematography is bad for it, I felt like it was a showoff cinematography movie so I’m really surprised it missed that. King Richard did well hitting Editing so maybe it is the spoiler.
Best Actress precursors was such a mess

Re: 94th Oscar nominations
Happy for Kristen but that lasted about 45 seconds before the Villeneuve snub. So Dune has no chance, if it ever did. This shit show deserves a trash movie like Power of the Dog as its winner. I will protest by not watching.

Re: 94th Oscar nominations
Belfast getting directing over Dune is pretty funny. Such a random film to get support, it really isn't that good. And the actress who played the mother didn't get in but Dench did? Wtf

Re: 94th Oscar nominations
It once again reeks of people not actually watching the films. I've never been more embarassed to be a movie fan. Can't believe this is the shit they pick to represent us. There are three actually bad films in Best Picture. But hey I'm still in here complaining like a mad man. In todays post-Roman Reigns world, any reaction is better than nothing. So at least they'll get extra coverage from all the "how did ____ not get nominated" articles.

Re: 94th Oscar nominations
Lol, power of the dog will be the most forgettable bp winner in decades. The t.v ratings are gonna be even worse this year than last. These awards have become irrelevant and have lost prestige.

I wonder how low the telecast ratings will sink this year?

I bet they'll pander to ratings for hosts.
Zendaya and Tom Holland? Ariana Grande? Selena, Steve and Martin?

Can they perform Bruno even though it's not the nominated one?

Re: 94th Oscar nominations
No Gaga, Dune clearly not having a chance at BP due to the Director snub, and the songs from Encanto that were actually hits not being nominated/performed will affect ratings big time IMO. Those were their three biggest rating draws and they messed them up, especially Gaga. People would have tuned in to see what she would wear, and the possibility of seeing a pop star win which hasn't been the case since Cher. Stupid old farts at the Academy, enjoy your 5 million total viewers.

Zendaya and Tom Holland? Ariana Grande? Selena, Steve and Martin? Ariana was snubbed for Best Song in favour of that awful Beyonce song so I doubt she will show up. Tom and Zendaya will definitely be there.

Re: 94th Oscar nominations
Them going with anything but the biggest hits to submit for Encanto is pretty baffling. It'll probably win but Bruno would be a shoe in.

Re: 94th Oscar nominations
The deadline was a few weeks before Encanto came out so they may not have seen Bruno breaking out coming. Surface Pressure being a hit was predictable but I guess they could have thought Dos Oruguitas could appeal to some voters in a way that a more aggressively pop song wouldn't.

Re: 94th Oscar nominations
Hopefully there's a running "we don't talk about Bruno" gag during the show.

Re: 94th Oscar nominations
Just read that Jane Campion is the first woman to receive two Directing noms. Reminded me that Bigelow was robbed for Zero Dark Thirty.

Re: 94th Oscar nominations
Can we talk about how crazy it is for a sci-fi action film to get Picture and Adapted though? I think this is the first time it's happened for a big space opera type film like this since the original Star Wars.
