Re: Halloween Weekend
Seems fine. Anything over 40m would be decent. If Dune somehow manages to do 40m next weekend we can have 4 40m+ openers in a row!

Re: Halloween Weekend
I think Dune will do 40m OW, drop a bit hard like 55-60% week 2, and then stabilize for a total around 125-135m

Re: Halloween Weekend
Last Duel previews $350,000
That feels like one of the biggest flops of the year given the star caliber.

Re: Halloween Weekend
THE LAST DUEL is clear adult fare and they have not returned to theaters yet. Also the stars weren't recognizable at all.
That said, we need dune and last duel to succeed if we want more "original" big budget fare.

Re: Halloween Weekend
Last Duel looks like neither of them is the real bad guy and the movie is about Jodie Comer's internal conflict about lying. It might have made more if it was dumber.

Re: Halloween Weekend
Deadline saying $21m for Halloween and estimating low 50s drop for Bond. Looks to be a good weekend.

Re: Halloween Weekend
Expected drop for NttD was expecting a sub-50 drop with those encouraging weekdays but that's still a great hold.
Expected drop for HK similar to past reboot sequels.

Re: Halloween Weekend
That Halloween figure is very impressive, especially because its available on Peacock at home. If it was theatrical only, could it have pulled $80m?! The last one did $76,221,545 in 2018. Bond is disappointing. It looks like it could just miss $150M. With inflation, it will probably finish under all the Craig movies AND Brosnan ones. Here's hoping it stabilizes week 3.

Re: Halloween Weekend
At this point it's clear box office is back to appreciable levels and they can pull the plug on these day and date streaming releases that are costing them millions. Unless their analytics show that the extra subscribers are worth it but even then they're only going to see real profit years down the line and that's if people don't cancel the service.

Re: Halloween Weekend
Good for Jamie Lee Curtis. She'll have movies that have done $100M+ adjusted over 6 decades from Halloween in the 70s, Trading Places in the 80s, True Lies in the 90s, Freaky Friday in the 00's, Halloween and Knives Out in the 10s to Halloween now (assuming it gets past $100M) in the 20's.

Re: Halloween Weekend
Looks like the Peacock situation worked. Honestly don't think Halloween would have opened much higher than it did, and it probably got a slight boost in subscribers.

Re: Halloween Weekend
How did The Last Duel only make $5m. B grade films released during the peak of the pandemic were making close to that much. Huge letdown.
