Re: Malignant (2021)
This wasn't anything revelatory in the first half and keeps dropping some hints throughout the movie to draw a conclusion as audience but then comes the revelation that's audicious and surprising in a great way. Wan does a great job at keeping things interesting and his visual flair of directing some complex things are really good in here but its the shocking revelation that really "NEEDS TO BE SEEN" to believe that sets it apart from a regular genre fare.

Re: Malignant (2021)
I believe this movie will be very divisive among KJ (but I will be glad to be wrong) because I am sure few will not connect with the (shocking) twist.

Re: Malignant (2021)
I didn't find the revelation that surprising, I didn't guess it but I kinda thought something along the lines when trying to connect the opening scene.
I thought this was an entertaining watch though. The campiness of it made me laugh several times and yeah, the last 20 minutes is pretty out there.

Re: Malignant (2021)
For a good portion of this movie, I was struggling to understand what an accomplished horror director like James Wan was doing being involved. It felt like some generic demonic possession flick, with bad acting and even worse writing. How naive was I? The last act of this film is so completely and utterly deranged, off the wall, and delightfully batshit that I did an immediate 180. Truly cannot believe what I just saw, lol. The contortionist parkour of it all! This thing is so obviously about to become a lauded camp classic and I really can't argue with that. B+

I liked it.
Yes, it has a twist. And it's impossible to predict. And if you think about it too much, it's doesn't really hold any water. But the whole thing is just much fun.

Maybe you should stop getting pregnant. How many times do I have to watch my children die inside of you?
Woof. Rough start. But I’ll finish out of respect for Wan.

Spoke too soon. Bad dialogue, yes, but this shit is crazy enough to make up for it.

Re: Malignant (2021)
Yeah those last 30 minutes or so are why I love movies. I’m sorry for doubting you Mr. Wan.

Libs literally said the same in two posts above you. It starts as a generic diversion but then goes complete batshit crazy.

Re: Malignant (2021)
I saw it at the theater and for a while found it kind of boring. But like plenty of others that finale sold me. It's so ridiculous and fun. I wish it had been more fun leading up to it but it's saved by the 3rd act. Plus I'm obsessed with the, "Sydney, I'm adopted" part. Hilarious.
