2024 election - Trump vs Harris (the final countdown)
Who do we think will be at the top of the ticket in 2024?
I think the top three way too early candidates are:
Mike Pence Ron DeSantis Don Trump Jr
I don’t think Trump will end up running again, and I think the question is if the GOP wants to go more traditional in which we see Pence run who I think has had an uptick in popularity amongst traditional Republicans in the last few weeks or if they’ll want to continue to look at outsider medía personalities in which I think they’ll make the mistake of going for someone in the Trump brand in which I think it will be his son. Or will they go in the middle? Ron DeSantis has been particularly popular amongst both traditional Republicans and newer populist Republicans. The problem is he might want to continue being the Governor of Florida

Re: GOP 2024
None of the above. I think it'll be someone new who comes to rise during the 2022 mid-term election. Hopefully with a message that's far, far removed from Trump's politics. wishful thinking I know. Trump will either be in jail or dies of utter humiliations in Florida way before 2024.

Re: GOP 2024
I think the GOP has undergone a transformation during the 2010s. The party of Berry Goldwater, Ronald Reagan, and the Bush family is over. The GOP is less about being a military and economic global powerhouse, oil, tax reform, and the traditional suburban family. Now it is the party of the white identity, anti-government, isolationism, and conspiracy.

Re: GOP 2024
Trump loyalists will defect to The Patriot Party, while CCP loyalists stay within GOP and Democrats. It will be like the 1912 election where the GOP candidate was a distant 3rd to Democrats and Bull Horse Party. Hopefully there is an anti-CCP wing in Democrat party splinter off as well so that there would be more non-CCP choices for Americans.

Re: GOP 2024
You have GOP House members openly attacking their own party members now, and along with "conservative" media, are also ganging up on GOP Senators like McConnell. What's this accomplishing?
If Trump and his base split off to form the so-called "Patriot Party", the GOP won't stand a chance in 2024, and will certainly end up with huge losses in the House and Senate. Is that really the path they want to take? I would expect it to "die down" over the next few months, maybe up a year, but so many wackos have infiltrated the party that I don't think that'll be the case. Surely they understand the losses the GOP would take in 2022 and 2024 could be so severe that the Democrats could hold the Presidency, the House, and the Senate for decades if the opposition party is split.

Dramatist would be great, would appeal to both moderates and the base I think. He is no nonsense and can handle himself in front of the press, but also pushes for conservative policy.

Nikki Haley finally moved against Trump, I think she will end up leader of the GOP side that wants to return things to Romney/Paul Ryan/etc. style

Re: GOP 2024
She flips on Trump a lot. Just off the top of my head, this feels like the third or fourth time. I wouldn't expect her current stance to hold up in the long-term. She an ineffective opportunist. Maybe that'll change before 2024, but she's had several years to get it down, so I think she's simply bad at it.
The GOP 2024 field is going to be interesting. I wouldn't bet on Trump running again though. He never matured enough to accept losing, and I don't believe he'll put his image at risk with a potential loss. Of course he'll play it up to get his ego stroked and make it seem like he'll run, either as a Republican again or third party, up until the filing deadlines. If he would shockingly jump in, it'll be interesting to watch how the pro-Trump candidates campaign.

Re: GOP 2024
Solid speech by Noem at CPAC, like DeSantis a good mix of earning Trump voters respect with her lockdown stance while remaining stable... good VP pick maybe.

Desantis would get crushed.
Romney needs to run 3rd party!

Hoping Trump runs again, either for the GOP nomination or whatever party he and his supporters create.

Re: GOP 2024
He still seems like the alpha to me. The two most likely scenarios is he's the nominee or he doesn't run. Him trying but another Republican taking him out seems a longshot.

Trump is a winning candidate within the GOP but will lose on the national level. I think if DeSantis secures the nomination he’d win the election
