Re: Thursday previews
Solid for Sonic. Curious to see the Cinemascore. Reviews are divisive but the early audience score is excellent.
In unrelated news, I'm in the mood for Olive Garden.

Re: Thursday previews
it grossly overindexed in the chains I tracked. Its release in Cinepolis in canada was limited and so overall preview show count was less than norm.
That said its looking at a huge OD today. Walk ups should be big. still think it will hit 50m+ 3 day and 60m+ over 4 day weekend.

Re: Thursday previews
Judging by German and French opening days I wouldn't be surprised if the 3 day opening tops $60m...

Re: Thursday previews
Yeah still a great number for Sonic and I believe it still has a chance at hitting $50M for the 3-Day due to more walk ups and family driven audiences coming out today and over the weekend.

Re: Thursday previews
Charlie over at BOT is saying 19-20m true friday which means 22-23m OD. Even if he is over by couple of million it should be good for 50m+ 3 day. If it hits high end it will hit high 50's 3 day and 70m 4 day.

Re: Thursday previews
I'm sure it wasn't deliberate... but having it look so bad to begin with was a huge blessing. Not only garnered a ton of buzz for how bad it was, but then it doubled up on it when they fixed it.

Re: Thursday previews
Good buzz following bad buzz is something you can’t buy with regular marketing. Just ask Titanic.
Happy this is working for Paramount who should have one of their better years.

Kids love the trailers and their is a nostalgia factor in play as well. It has been looking like a hit for a few months. The market place needs a hit so glad it did well.

Re: Thursday previews
I think the movie would've fulfilled Shack's sub-80m club if they stuck with the initial design. Changing it brought a ton of goodwill.

Re: Thursday previews
Great for Sonic.
The Mario movie scheduled for 2022 could do $300 m + IMO. It's stayed relevant a lot longer than Sonic has. It also has Chris Meledandri from Despicable Me involved.

Re: Thursday previews
Great preview number for a family movie. And those early Friday numbers are insane. If $20m+ holds it should cross $60m for 3-day
