January 17-20 predictions
Not really feeling either of these tbh. Hopefully both can hit 30m for the 4-day but I feel like Dolittle will flop.

Flop and floppier. No one asked for another set of tired retreads.

Dolittle will flop. BB3 was tracking for a 40 million 4 day. Just Mercy and 1917 should see strong holds

Bad Boys For Life - $40m (4-day) Dolittle - $28m (4-day)
I don't think either will be a disaster but will underwhelm in comparison to their budgets.
The story of the weekend will be how good 1917 and Just Mercy hold.

Dolittle doesn't appear to have a storyline... So I can't imagine parents giving their kids the option to see it.

Bad Boys For Life - 40 (4-Day) Dolittle - 30 (4-Day)
I'm hoping both do better than expected, but the main story of this weekend will definitely be about how good the holdovers will be for 1917 and Just Mercy.

Re: January 17-20 predictions
We'll see an increase (4-day vs last week) for Mercy. 1917 may see a small decrease - i.e. 10% or is an increase on the cards?

Re: January 17-20 predictions
As I expected the Monday numbers indicate 1917 won’t have a big percentage effect since it is already earning so much. Plus, it’s nominations were expected based on the globe wins and largely factored into OW. Normally I would have expected about a 70% Monday drop for 1917. Don’t expect more than a 15% difference this weekend. Should still drop at least 20% 3 day.
Parasite, Jojo Rabbit, and even FvF had much better Monday holds since they were earning less.

Re: January 17-20 predictions
I'm just predicting 3-Day.
1. BAD BOYS FOR LIFE - 32.5 MILLION (New) 2. 1917 - 29.6 MILLION (-20%) 3. DOLITTLE - 18.576 MILLION (New) 4. JUMANJI: THE NEXT LEVEL - 10.223 MILLION (-27%) 5. STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER - 9.264 MILLION (-39%) 6. JUST MERCY - 7.576 MILLION (-22%) 7. LIKE A BOSS - 6.407 MILLION (-36%) 8. LITTLE WOMEN - 5.773 MILLION (-26%) 9. FROZEN II - 4.432 MILLION (-25%) 10. SPIES IN DISGUISE - 3.931 MILLION (-24%) 11. KNIVES OUT - 3.768 MILLION (-33%) 12. UNDERWATER - 3.223 MILLION (-54%) 13. PARASITE - 1.833 MILLION 14. UNCUT GEMS - 1.308 MILLION (-61%) 15. BOMBSHELL - $693,882 (-52%)
Will likely update Parasite when there's an official theater count. Doesn't look like it's seeing a huge expansion this weekend so I'm guessing around 470 theaters.

Re: January 17-20 predictions
Awful reviews for Dolittle and decent for Bad Boys for Life, which should win the 4-day weekend with over $35m.

Re: January 17-20 predictions
Bad Boys will easily win. PS wise its like 5-6x Dolittle level. I am thinking 4 day weekend of 50m for Bad Boys and low 20's for do little.

Re: January 17-20 predictions
I wonder with those awful reviews how low Dolittle will open. If the reviews were great I think it would have done decent but now I think it will be yet another movie that got dumped in January.

Re: January 17-20 predictions
RDJ + kids film - you'd think it would at least crack $20m 4-day (as awful as that would be). Who knows.
With kids/families having gone to see Frozen/Jumanji/Spies/Star Wars I don't think the appetite exists at the moment. The next family hit will be Sonic.

Re: January 17-20 predictions
I think there is a good chance it misses $20m 4-day now. Its an original movie and RDJ is not a draw. The difference between him and Depp is that Pirates was a comparatively smaller effort and Depp did other commercial roles in between. RDJ only has super non-commercial "The Judge" since 2012 (Sherlock was before that and I don't think he was household name before the first Avengers). Also it seems he is doing the same Iron Man shtick which can be irritating.

Re: January 17-20 predictions
Last two Bad Boys had decent multipliers. Reviews are much better for this one and with MLK Day giving it a boost this could hold well next weekend. I think BB3 will be the first $100m grosser of 2020.
