Avengers: Endgame
Headed for a BP nomination? Black Panther had better reviews and the race angle but Endgame is even bigger

Re: Avengers: Endgame
Black Panther had at best equal reviews, Endgame is a much better movie. Panther was a pretty typical origin story, however well done.
Endgame has a chance if the field is super weak, but more likely it pulls a Force Awakens and is nominated in like every minor category, winning 1 or 2.

Panther had an 88 on metacritic to Endgame's 77 and ranked 7th at the end of the year on top 10 lists via criticstop10.com. I agree it was agenda driven but nevertheless its reviews were stronger in my opinion

Re: Avengers: Endgame
This won't be nominated for BP. There are too many plot holes for the Academy to take this seriously. BP's smaller scale and linear storyline helped it avoid plot holes

Re: Avengers: Endgame
I'd like to see and think it deserves a best pic. nom from what I've so far this year, but from what's been said above, it's unlikely it will.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
I could definitely see an RDJ nom.
As great as the movie is though, it does nothing to make old white people feel less guilty about racism. So BP is probably out.

Yeah an RDJ nom is more likely. (and more deserving)

Re: Avengers: Endgame
I would think this would/should deserve a BP nomination simply because it's going to be the #2 if not #1 highest grossing film of all time. It is so frustrating to see the Academy ignore rewarding box office historical juggernauts in the past with some using the excuse it's box office is the reward. This film being a complete buildup from 21 previous films I think will work in it's favor and the voting body should be more receptive to this specific film due to the unique attributes of it. In my view this should be ROTK type rewarding at least in terms of nominations as many of the actors, directors, writers, producers etc have been involved with the series for many years. I agree with RDJ being nominated just as a body of work.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
Honestly I do think Endgame is the first and only MCU movie that has a legitimate argument for a BP nod, besides maybe the first Avengers. It can honestly be said that it does push the envelope for cinema, unlike most Marvel films. What they achieved here is honestly just astounding and is going to go down in film history regardless of if it wins a single Teen's Choice Award, let alone an Oscar nomination.

It's one of the worst films I've ever seen. No thank you.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
I can't imagine it not getting a BP nomination now with the the top grossing film in it's pocket. I also think if they want they can get RDJ a nod too as one of those "reward" nominations. Won't win though, I'm thinking Tom Hanks finally gets recognized again.

He’s a great actor, it took me until the second video to realize he wasn’t just a guy living under a rock who hadn’t seen the numbers yet

The Force Awakens reaction when you saw the OW was great
