Nice for The Interpreter.
Sahara is still increasing in theaters. That's good.

The Interpreter rules out its chances of over $25m with an unfeasibly low theater count for a picture of its scope.
it should provide a strong $22m figure though with those numbers.

Nothing wrong with The Interpreter's theater count. The Manchurian Candidate only got 2867. Million Dollar Baby never got close to 3000. Adult drama just doesn't command a super high screen count, but they still consistently draw the crowd when the quality is good. For these movies, it's about the leg, not the opening weekend.

Frankly, I think it's nice to see a movie not open so wide for once.
I somehow get tired of every movie opening absolutely everywhere in over 3000 theatres. 2,758 is a nice, solid number.
Remember the early 1990s when movies could make close to $20M in under 2000 theatres?
Yeah, I do.

I was hoping for around 2,900. Movies that open over 3,000 always seem needy
Maybe The Interpreter has a stronger deal with those theaters; ie 4 week contract for a better than usual share after the initial frame>> if thats even possible

FEVER PITCH - 2,875 (-400)
Great count for Kung Fu Hustle. It could win the weekend if it surprises.

Is the actual number for Kung Fu Hustle ever going to show up? Or is 2500 the actual number (that's kinda unlikely)?

I think it's getting closer and closer to the actual number. Sony had trouble reporting the actual counts of HOFD as well when it was released.

Yeah, I do.
Sometimes, the count was under 1500 theaters, and still generates a $20 million opening weekend.
