Re: Early Friday #s
Hmm yeah. Looks like Aquaman and Poppins are the big blockbusters and Bumblebee will just be that $110-$125m grosser.
Grinch has now dropped like its proverbial rock, and is behind Ralph. Still, it will finish with so much more than Ralph it's not even funny. Disney fucked up.

Re: Early Friday #s
Lol at Poppins ending up not being a flop. Idk why it was even expected to open with big #s but it's doing good at least, idk how overseas will fare but certainly not a flop.
Even with the holidays its amusing to see the DCEU have teo of the worst drops ever for a superhero movie and 2 of the best.

Re: Early Friday #s
Not really. Before its release, it was expected as a surefire $300m grosser - the biggest release of the winter! I even remember a few months ago, anyone would have been lambasted for saying it wouldn't do $450m or more. So I don't think it's jumping the gun to say this flopped, considering it will now just make $180m, or maybe $200m.

Re: Early Friday #s
Yeah, Poppins has rebounded nicely, but it'll still be in under-performer territory unless it can leg it out to $250m.
You can make the argument that pre-release expectations were unreasonable, but I suppose that's another story.

Anything over 200 million is fine for Poppins imo

Unless it fails to crack 200 then you can call it that.

Re: Early Friday #s
With how well Aquaman is doing I'm expecting Aquaman 2 to be announced for December 2021... which is the same time Avatar 3 is set for release so could be interesting.

Re: Early Friday #s
They'll move Aquaman to November or the Summer if need be. Or releasing a week after Avatar certainly didnt hurt Sherlock Holmes so they can very well keep it in that slot.

Re: Early Friday #s
Mortal Engines 346 theater average. Looks really out of place by comparison. Most ptas are pretty good right now because of increases and weaker theaters being lost to competition.
