Re: November 16-18 Predictions
Er.... anyway, just got out of the Imax fan screening of Fantastic Beasts and I'm not sure how well it'll do.... will be way less accessible than the first one.

Re: November 16-18 Predictions
Ya, the script is all over the place. The film relies more on revelations and exposition than character sadly. Hopefully the middle entry is more tight in terms of story.
BTW, Deadline is saying these Tuesday night showings will be rolled in with Thursday previews so previews may be inflated a little.

Re: November 16-18 Predictions
Tracking services have FB as high as $75m but it really feels like a non-event.. I'm sure fans will still come out in droves.
I really don't see any reason why Widows would open much better than Bad Times at the El Royale?

Re: November 16-18 Predictions
Widows has already entered the top five on MC. And those reviews are out-of-this-world good. Definitely could see this hitting the top in the tracking around 17 to 18 million

Re: November 16-18 Predictions
Widows looks like it will both a critical and box office hit. A solid opening around $20m and then very good legs.

Re: November 16-18 Predictions
I bet Sony thought they had a winner of their hands with The Girl in the Spider's Web in this current climate of misandrists and #metoo. But it will finish with not a whole lot more than the original Swedish one. lol such a fail.

No sign of Instant Family or Widows yet on MT. I imagine both will be walk-up friendly.

Re: November 16-18 Predictions
So Fantastic Beasts shows start at 5pm today. The Packer/Seahawk football game will probably have above average viewership, so it' might have some impact, though it's not necessarily the same audience
Very interested to find out what happens with this movie. Reviews are pretty bad, especially for the Wizarding World. How much will that matter? The audience is fairly die hard. I also suspect the audience will enjoy the movie more than critics.
I'm also very happy to see that Ralph Breaks the Internet is getting good early reviews. It's the only movie I've anticipated this winter more than Beasts.

Re: November 16-18 Predictions
$10M previews and $25M opening day is my guess. I wish I could go tonight, but must work instead.

Re: November 16-18 Predictions
FB is likely to open in the mid 60s but under $60m would not surprise me at all.

Instant Family is on MT but no Widows. Still fully expect Widows to do more in Thursday previews.

Re: November 16-18 Predictions
Beasts is an international play but it definitely should be doing more than 65-70m OW. They really dropped the ball with marketing the first. And while the trailers for this were better, they weren’t going to snag any new fans. And with the poor reviews and episodic nature of the movie, the third will probably keep the downward trajectory going. Sad.

Re: November 16-18 Predictions
Instant Family with a 100% Audience Score after 233 ratings. Real or rigged?

Re: November 16-18 Predictions
I'm not too confident about it reaching 70. I went to one of the theatres in my area and the parking lot was minimally filled like a normal day. This will not help my weekend prediction.

Checked those up, the first one justifies everything wrong with the world, the second contains a contradiction.

Re: November 16-18 Predictions
This weekend is the most recent example of tracking being an inexact science. Sentiments clearly changed for whatever reason, though none of this weekend's openers were failures.
