Hopefully it goes sub-$10m. Oh it will go sub 10 Million. I've always seen that ever since we got a trailer. I am reminded of Inferno, also from Sony. But this will do worse than that. Nobody cares. That's why I predicted it to lose the most amount of theaters in its third weekend in our Fall/Winter game. Of course I'm not so sure that will happen anymore with the estimated theater count going down to 2,400. I had always thought it would open in over 3,000.

Re: November 9-11 Predictions
Universal is at least confident in The Grinch, their 7th widest release of all time at 4,140 theaters. I still don't see it opening any better than The Peanuts Movie, and really an opening closer to Sing wouldn't surprise me.

Not that they will affect it much, but reviews are mixed.

Re: November 9-11 Predictions
Its RT score is better than the 2000 Grinch so it's doing something right.

Re: November 9-11 Predictions
So much for Spider's Web being well received. Reviews have basically zapped all the interest I had in seeing it. Sony dropping the TC was a bad sign.

Re: November 9-11 Predictions
They shouldn't have gotten rid of Mara and shouldn't have basically turned Lisbeth into a superhero of sorts. I'll still see it. Seems like a serviceable action/thriller. But these things are going to annoy me a lot.

Re: November 9-11 Predictions
I'm a little surprised Thugs of Hindostan didn't show up on movietickets. Regularly priced Indian films are rare, and we even got a standee for it. It basically looks like Pirates of the Caribbean with a cast from India.

Re: November 9-11 Predictions
A Star is Born hasn't had a day under 1m yet and could still be top 5 this weekend. What a terrific run!

Re: November 9-11 Predictions
Disney has generally owned November, with Fox the runner up for family fare. We'll see if Illumination can get on the board in a big way.

Re: November 9-11 Predictions
Nothing to do with this weekend but I'm surprised Widows has an estimated theater count of 3,000 next weekend. Was thinking more like 2,400.

Breakout for Widows? Could do Orient Express numbers. It is great counter programming for Potter and the reviews are fantastic.
