Re: Early Friday Numbers
I think it could go more like Last Jedi and be less frontloaded than its predecessor the first few days.

Re: Early Friday Numbers
It feels like this film was poorly handled, starting with the script. If they had come up with a more ingenious direction to take the plot in, and had put this in late July or early August, it could have done much more. The last one adjusts to freaking $650m. The sequel should have been a bigger event.

It will increase, just as JW did.

Re: Early Friday Numbers
We'll see. I think it still has a good sized audience. But the past two weekends might spell trouble for Ant-Man. Maybe the week break will be enough for it. But either it or HT3 are going to take a pretty good hit.

I feel like every sequel has struggled with the logic anyway, but audiences haven't cared much so long as there was some dino action. The fact that they've squeezed three sequels out of a story where everyone in the world should have gone "let's never do anything with dinosaurs again" after the first one is pretty incredible.

Re: Early Friday Numbers
There was many ways to go, but Hollywood just lacks creativity and will ALWAYS try to replicate previous successes rather than create new successes. Look at Terminator. They basically remade the first film for 2 and 3, but that's what people wanted because those were successful. When they changed it up, 4 and 5 flopped.

Black Panther $800,000 452% 115 -31 $6,957 $700,471,468 19 Disney
almost $7,000 per theater average in its 19th week.... right.

Re: Early Friday Numbers
Didn't think JW would hit Incredibles 2 quite so hard. $85m is the best I can see it doing with a solid Saturday recovery, though a decent but unspectacular $80m sophomore frame is more likely.

Re: Early Friday Numbers
To be fair, Incredibles without JW was facing a lot of pent up demand and was going to drop alot more than Finding Dory to begin with.

Re: Early Friday Numbers
Two weekends ago: A Wrinkle In Time $29,640 -24.3% 157 / $189 $98,069,947 / 92 Last weekend: A Wrinkle In Time $754,127 +2444.3% 245 / $3,078 $98,982,254 / 99 This weekend: A Wrinkle In Time $28,000 -96.3% 90 / $311 $100,327,926 / 106 I feel so honored to see a movie feat where a single movie can go up +2444.3% and then drop -96.3% the following weekend. This truly is a once in a lifetime box office moment.

Re: Early Friday Numbers
With Incredibles being so big, Disney was in a position to push two movies to milestones through double features. Unfortunately for Solo, no double feature is going to help it to a meaningful milestone.

True, I"'s weekday holds were weaker than Dory's even before the arrival of JW2, but they were still solid. Dory attracted a higher amount of female, while I2 appeals a little more to males, meaning weekdays for the former were bound to be stronger. Taking JW2 out of the equation, we would have reasonably got something around this: 18.5/19 Thu 27/28 Fri 90/92 weekend - or around a 50% drop.

I'm interested to see the increase for Rampage this weekend since it's with Jurassic World at many drive-ins.
