Sir, that still remains to be seen. Just don't put all your eggs in one basket as they say.

We should get this straight, SW back in 99' had more appeal then LOTR and that had alot to do with finally a new SW coming out after a 20 year hiatus. Now after 2 mediocre movies, the appeal has worn out a bit to non-hardcore fans.

The sad thing is (well, in my opinion) the second movie was actually really good, the mediocre acting and the love story aside, but I think that the first hurt the overall series too much.

Definitely, Episode 1 made over 400m, Episode 2 fell more then 120m. Though I still think ROTS wont follow the big drop pattern, instead make about 40-50m more then Episode 2, it is the last installment in the franchise, it has to do more then Attack of the Clones.

I dont like the first two spots that much. They have such a "childish" narrator voice. But beside that it looks pretty cool.

What the fuck, who ok'd those spots? They are horrible. And the music and pacing, wow.
My wife actually asked me if it was a joke, if a fan made it?

It's a huge shift in marketing, giving it this cheesy happy-go lucky ad campaign for such a dark movie. It'll give it a bigger opening weekend, but even worse legs methinks. However, I personally think it looks AWESOME. Moviedude, the legs for this last SW are gonna be incredible and automatically right off the bat, I'm gonna say this movie will rule the summer at the box office with no problem.. You'd be surprised at how many fans wanted to see Vader and Chewbacca and the Emperor back in 1999 and didn't get it, but now were gonna get it and don't let this nonsense about it being too dark for kids fool ya.. If kids can withstand the dark violence that was in the multitude of battles in the LOTR films, then there is no reason why they can't handle this.. Lucas is just being modest and talking out of his ass and he knows it cause it isn't like he's gonna come right out on a show like 60 MINUTES and say his movie is gonna make a killing because that would make him come across as arrogant so he's playing that off... ROTS is gonna make an absolute fortune and already selling out a month early since tickets have gone on sale.. That says ALOT..Like I said, huge opening. But LOTR had a wider level of audience appeal. The Harry Potter movies are solid proof that the darker a film gets, the worse it's legs get when it has so much appeal to younger kids. The fact that it then had to deal with The Longest Yard and Madagascar, which I think could open to a a combined 130+ million, and I see the worst multiplier of the series, but it'll still be a massive hit and let Lucas roll in the dough.
Harry Potter is just proof of the fact that if you start off mediocre, you'll lose your audience. No more.

starwarsepisode7. your opinion is fine but do not include the rest of us when you say episode 1 trailer was voted best ever without providing either proof or a detailed argument.
Off the top of my head, i can name you about 5 trailers better than it. In due time, i can prolly give you a 100. with ample time, i can triple that number.

And as much as I usually disagree with SWEP7, he is right, TPM was chosen the best trailer of all time by the British Empire (or Total Film) magazine.

I don't remember it being great besides the fact that it was a new Star Wars trailer. That's worth points alone. It's also one of the most misleading trailers ever produced.
I don't have a link but I'm sure it's on the TPM dvd.

Fantastic.
BTW this thread is about about Star Wars. I could not care less what ROTk or some other shitty movie did. We want Star Wars talk. If some people want to gloss over other movies, go to your threads.
BKB, you are absolutely correct in that people were expecting connections to the original trilogy in TPM. ROTS will rule this year.

These ads look great.
But with sound and narrator, overall impression is not so great.

That's not misleading. It's great advertising. And about 16 years worth of hype.

There have been several, this is one of them:

Thanks, yeah that was a pretty effective trailer given what they had to work with. I notice they didn't include the boy hardly at all, which is definitely misleading. Sith trailers and spots seem to have more emotion and Lucas seems to have woken up to the need to focus on Obi as the main protagonist, so I still think Sith ones are better. I love the loose feel of those tv spots posted in this thread, that is the star wars I knew.

I wonder how many lightsabers General Grievous will use in Sith.
He can use as many as five at once. In the Clone Wars series, he used three in his fight againt Jedi Masters Ki-Adi-Mundi, Aayla Secura, Shaak Ti, K'Kruhk, and Padawan Sha'a Gi.
Then he used four when he killed Jedi Masters Roron Corrob and Foul Moudama.

I look forward to this summer so much.... just to see how Episode III performs. I just want to laugh at all the 300+ million predictions, but we shall see...

I don't know, that seems like a pretty sad state of mind to be in. Looking forward to the summer because of hoping that a movie fails to earn 300 million dollars that you won't see a penny of? um, whatever... :???:
I'm looking forward to the summer because I'm hoping there are a lot of great films that come out. Sith definitely looks to be one of those.

I greatly look forward to the movie, #1 on my anticipation list... but all of the unrealistic predictions make me want to see it disappoint. It's weird, I know.
