I think Lucas is gonna make enough $$$ off of this to cover the National Debt.. I do feel this has a very good chance at making what the 1st one did just based on that 70's old feel it has to it.. Hell, I still say that Lucas should've just spared us the whole Jar Jar Binks nonsense, did away with the other 2 films and just showed ROTS back in 1999 and everyone would've been happy, both old fans and new fans or at least made Anakin a teenager in EPISODE I instead of a kid.. :-k

I guess I'm the one dude who isn't all that incredibly impressed. It's a huge shift in marketing, giving it this cheesy happy-go lucky ad campaign for such a dark movie. It'll give it a bigger opening weekend, but even worse legs methinks. However, I personally think it looks AWESOME.

Moviedude, the legs for this last SW are gonna be incredible and automatically right off the bat, I'm gonna say this movie will rule the summer at the box office with no problem.. You'd be surprised at how many fans wanted to see Vader and Chewbacca and the Emperor back in 1999 and didn't get it, but now were gonna get it and don't let this nonsense about it being too dark for kids fool ya.. If kids can withstand the dark violence that was in the multitude of battles in the LOTR films, then there is no reason why they can't handle this.. Lucas is just being modest and talking out of his ass and he knows it cause it isn't like he's gonna come right out on a show like 60 MINUTES and say his movie is gonna make a killing because that would make him come across as arrogant so he's playing that off... ROTS is gonna make an absolute fortune and already selling out a month early since tickets have gone on sale.. That says ALOT..

Like I said, huge opening. But LOTR had a wider level of audience appeal. The Harry Potter movies are solid proof that the darker a film gets, the worse it's legs get when it has so much appeal to younger kids. The fact that it then had to deal with The Longest Yard and Madagascar, which I think could open to a a combined 130+ million, and I see the worst multiplier of the series, but it'll still be a massive hit and let Lucas roll in the dough.

LOTR had a wider level of audience appeal? Worldwide, maybe. But in the USA? Hell no. Star Wars 3 will EASILY outgross the mediocre ROTK.

LOTR had wider appeal than SW Moviedude??? Really??? :-k I think your majorly wrong on that account and Potter and LOTR aren't SW... They do appeal to both age demographics.. For amovie already selling out a month early, that's a big deal and one wouldn't expect that after the last 2 were mixed amongst fans and critics.. This is the movie fans really have been waiting for and selling out this early ahead of time at all hours of the day says alot..

Well Return of the King sold out midnight shows this early too, as did the first two Star Wars movies. And yeah, I think that LOTR does. It appealed to kids, to teenagers, to young adults, older ones, and senior citizens, all for different reasons. On the other hand, I think that while Star Wars did have much more universal appeal, a lot of people over 35 feel burned from the two prequels, and that a lot of the people that were over 20 when the original movies hit won't give this one much of a chance barring reviews claiming it's by far the best prequel. The fans will give this a record breaking opening, I agree on that much, but I just can't see it holding up really well, especially since it has so much more competition in the weeks afterwards then any of the previous prequels. I mean, Attack of the Clones only had to deal with The Sum of All Fears weekend two (30 million) and the weekend after, no opening above 16 million. I think that the only reason it did get even 300 million was because it had virtually no competition until June 14th a month later when Scooby Doo opened, and only sizable competition June 21st when Minority Report and Lilo and Stitch hit. Star Wars has two HUGE movies opening second weekend, and weekend three four openers, three of which could open to 20+ million very easily. The weekend after it has Mr. and Mrs. Smith and the new Robert Rodregeuz movie in 3D, Shark Boy and Lava Girl 3D, which I think will make a combined 75 million opening weekend. And of course after that there's Batman Begins, and a week later the 800 lb gorilla known as War of the Worlds. Star Wars just doesn't have the stars aligned like it had before, and as such it's not the high profile release it was before. While I don't think that this will get dwarfed by 90 million like last time with Spider-Man vs. Episode II, I do think that at least something will make 50 million more over the summer.

I have to give credit where it is due, I've been one of the biggest slammers of the SW sequels and this set of ads is great, very well done.

No they sucked. Any ads for a star wars movie with a little boy as a main character sucks. Anyway we're not talking trailers, we're talking TV spots.

The TV spots were just as good. And The Phantom Menace trailers are the best EVER. And most people agree as it was voted the best trailer ever.

I still think they are. It set up the mood perfectly and it recognized what Star Wars is: legend. The trailers still give me goosebumps.

Dude, even I'm a Star Wars fan. The difference is between dying to see a movie (not to mention loving all but one of the previous films in the series) and being like StarWarsEpisode7 is that the latter lets there personal bias take over all sense and thought, instead declaring there movie will make billions before it does as if that will make anyone think anything differently besides the fact that the person is an idiot.

Wah wah. Would you like some cheese with that WHINE? And I really like The Empire Strikes Back - just wanted to see your guys' reactions when I said it was the worst (I give it a 150/10). And I am not trying to convice you guys about anything: I am giving my personal opinion. Not trying to prove something.

I'd love for Revenge of the Sith to make $2 billion worldwide and set the world on fire, not to mention more than triple Attack of the Clones' gross. Difference between myself and SWE7 is, I realize my opinion isn't the majority one.

And if it was?

HALLOWEEN 9 WILL QUADRUPLE THE RING'S GROSS!!! GUARANTEED!!! $500 MILLION WORLDWIDE!!

So opinions must be in the majority to be true? Truth is not democratic. Most of you people though Spider-Man 2 would outgross the original or that Shrek 2 wouldn't gross half as much as it did. I remember looking back at the old threads of BOM with your crazy ass Robots estimations.

Well personally, I said that Shrek 2 would pass 300 million with ease and that Robots would make 35 million opening weekend, 115 million total. And there's a difference between a far out box office opinion (BKB called The Ring Two, I said Coach Carter would make 25+ million opening weekend and both were right afterall) and something that's just completely far out and incredibly impossible: Your prediction is one of them. Some things just don't happen, and the issue isn't that your opinion is in the minority - it obviously is. The issue is that your "opinion" is obviously based on your huge love for Lucas and all things Star Wars.

The majority did have low predictions for Shrek 2 and high ones for Robots. And really; who says it is impossible? Who are YOU to decide what is impossible and possible? It is highly improbable, but is it impossible? No. 200 years ago I bet people would say "Go to space? That's impossible!" But at last, we flew to space. And even IF my opinion is because of my love for Star Wars, it doesnt mean it isn't valid or anything.

It's your personal right to predict for movies whatever you desire. But don't expect anyone to ever take your predictions seriously when you predict a billion for SW:ROTS.

Anyway, the spots are good, the "Unite" one rocks (the ending of it)
