So why did Bush say it? My guess is that it's what he really believes. Wow, I'm skeptical of Bush, whily you're actually believing him. That's a first ;-)
Well the thing is, I think his whole Mr Christian act is a put on.

It looks like Broward County is sending out an EXTRA 58,000 absentee ballots to replace the supposedly "lost" ones. How much you want to bet we end up with about 50,000 extra votes in Kerry-favored Broward County next Tuesday?

John Doe wrote: Secret Weapon for Bush?By JOHN TIERNEY Published: October 24, 2004 To Bush-bashers, it may be the most infuriating revelation yet from the military records of the two presidential candidates: the young George W. Bush probably had a higher I.Q. than did the young John Kerry. That, at least, is the conclusion of Steve Sailer, a conservative columnist at the Web magazine Vdare.com and a veteran student of presidential I.Q.'s. During the last presidential campaign Mr. Sailer estimated from Mr. Bush's SAT score (1206) that his I.Q. was in the mid-120's, about 10 points lower than Al Gore's. Mr. Kerry's SAT score is not known, but now Mr. Sailer has done a comparison of the intelligence tests in the candidates' military records. They are not formal I.Q. tests, but Mr. Sailer says they are similar enough to make reasonable extrapolations. Mr. Bush's score on the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test at age 22 again suggests that his I.Q was the mid-120's, putting Mr. Bush in about the 95th percentile of the population, according to Mr. Sailer. Mr. Kerry's I.Q. was about 120, in the 91st percentile, according to Mr. Sailer's extrapolation of his score at age 22 on the Navy Officer Qualification Test... Read the rest by clicking this article headline...
Judging by the recent IQ test thread, our entire forum (with the notable exception of Pinkpanther) is smarter than either candidate.

I heard in 2000 that if McCain became president he would have had the highest I.Q. ever for a pres, well, atleast since I.Q. tests have been around.

Ooooh. According to that SAT turned IQ, I I should be the next president, and I'm some kind of a genius. Whatever, I.Q. (logic and spacial comprehension puzzles) have nothing to do with SATs (memorization of basic algebra theorums and memorization of words). But I do remember reading an article that mentioned Bush's 1206 SAT score. The article said that was quite good. I guess it is, but 1200 is pretty average (and I believe it was his English one that was in the lower 500's , but I could be wrong). I can't believe I creamed our president on a test I didn't practice for. I just always assumed our presidents had 1500 or above. I guess it doesn't matter, since I don't place much value on these tests, but I was surprised. His father could have afforded a private tutor, but I guess it doesn't matter, cause it was such a deep Yale family he would've gotten in anyways, so probably didn't take the exam too seriously.

The tests used to be different back then too; you can't compare the results from different eras.
Anywho, Jimmy Carter was supposed to be highly intellectual. Yeah, he was a great president.

Damn I'm tired. Just finished my first day volunteering at my local polling place. Tempers ran high the whole time, and I can't blame people for being upset. Next Tuesday is going to be really bad. Why can't we get this voting shit right?

Sorry Archie, I used to be up for a good political debate, but this campaign is getting tiresome, and i'll be glad when it's over. I'm tired of watching Bush and kerry supporters on my TV and Radio spinning everything and hating on each other.

From Slate:
"PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla.â€â€"I want you to stand, raise your right hands," and recite "the Bush Pledge," said Florida state Sen. Ken Pruitt. The assembled mass of about 2,000 in this Treasure Coast town about an hour north of West Palm Beach dutifully rose, arms aloft, and repeated after Pruitt: "I care about freedom and liberty. I care about my family. I care about my country. Because I care, I promise to work hard to re-elect, re-elect George W. Bush as president of the United States."
I know the Bush-Cheney campaign occasionally requires the people who attend its events to sign loyalty oaths, but this was the first time I have ever seen an audience actually stand and utter one. Maybe they've replaced the written oath with a verbal one."
That's reassuring isn't it?

NASA photo analyst: Bush wore a device during debate
Physicist says imaging techniques prove the president's bulge was not caused by wrinkled clothing.
By Kevin Berger
Oct. 29, 2004 | George W. Bush tried to laugh off the bulge. "I don't know what that is," he said on "Good Morning America" on Wednesday, referring to the infamous protrusion beneath his jacket during the presidential debates. "I'm embarrassed to say it's a poorly tailored shirt."
Dr. Robert M. Nelson, however, was not laughing. He knew the president was not telling the truth. And Nelson is neither conspiracy theorist nor midnight blogger. He's a senior research scientist for NASA and for Caltech's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and an international authority on image analysis. Currently he's engrossed in analyzing digital photos of Saturn's moon Titan, determining its shape, whether it contains craters or canyons...
For the past week, while at home, using his own computers, and off the clock at Caltech and NASA, Nelson has been analyzing images of the president's back during the debates. A professional physicist and photo analyst for more than 30 years, he speaks earnestly and thoughtfully about his subject. "I am willing to stake my scientific reputation to the statement that Bush was wearing something under his jacket during the debate," he says. "This is not about a bad suit. And there's no way the bulge can be described as a wrinkled shirt."
"Nelson and a scientific colleague produced the photos from a videotape, recorded by the colleague, who has chosen to remain anonymous, of the first debate. The images provide the most vivid details yet of the bulge beneath the president's suit. Amateurs have certainly had their turn at examining the bulge, but no professional with a résumé as impressive as Nelson's has ventured into public with an informed opinion. In fact, no one to date has enhanced photos of Bush's jacket to this degree of precision, and revealed what appears to be some kind of mechanical device with a wire snaking up the president's shoulder toward his neck and down his back to his waist.
Nelson stresses that he's not certain what lies beneath the president's jacket. He offers, though, "that it could be some type of electronic device -- it's consistent with the appearance of an electronic device worn in that manner." The image of lines coursing up and down the president's back, Nelson adds, is "consistent with a wire or a tube."

You guys are no fun. If Clinton was doing something this obviously silly in 1999 you'd be laughing for 2 weeks.

I just want this to be over with so we can just continue on without having to hear some sort of ad on tv without the "paid for by the friends of..." or "I am....... and I approve this message". It's been how many months of this~!!!! The thing is it's only gonna get worst from now to the last damn day.

I live in the heart of the death star though, a republican suburb in Texas. So I rarely see political ads, maybe about 2 a day on a news channel.
I feel sorry for people who live in less one-sided states, must be rough this year.
