Re: Star Wars Episode IX thread - Speculation
Resistance starts to turn the tide, so Kylo builds a super weapon that will once and for all bring order. He has a tragic and somewhat erotic duel with Rey while Finn and Poe blow it up.

Neither Snoke or Luke are dead. And Anakin will return to set him straight And of course all force ghosts sitting around a campfire singing "Row Row Row your boat" to end it.

Re: Star Wars Episode IX thread - Speculation
The fan backlash is very, very real. No Hamil returning will really fuck things up. They need to accommodate that one bit of fan service. He needs to return as the Luke everyone remembers.

Re: Star Wars Episode IX thread - Speculation
I don't think that's true, I actually think Luke is amazing here. But the issue was TFA was to be Han, TLJ was to be Luke, and IX was to be Leia
Rey is the most like Leia, but now it will never work with her dying in real life. They had an idea and really have switch things around.I honestly think 9 was going to be about how the Force is meaningless, she could have learned her whole life but she ignored it. Luke unfortunately was tapped in but learned to ignore it. At the end of the day, the force is meaningless. Leia could have brung the idea home. And now it's just who you are. I think Force Luke will ultimately do the same thing.

I suspect Lando will show up too, and take over as leader or the resistance.

Don't see Rey dying. Not sure about Kylo because that would mean the end of the Skywalker line unless he has a kid out there.

Re: Star Wars Episode IX thread - Speculation
Kylo abandons the First Order (or at least his responsibilities as its new Supreme leader much to the frustration of Hux) to lead the Knights of Ren to confront Rey. Rey with the help of the Jedi force ghosts begins to establish a new order. Finn and Poe snuff begin to turn the tide on the war. Luke haunts Kylo the entire time.
Film ends with a final confrontation between Rey and the entire Knights of Ren. Thanks to Luke, during the fight, they slowly start to turncoat in the middle of the fight leaving it down Kylo vs the entire order.
Also yes there is a love interest between Kylo and Rey

Re: Star Wars Episode IX thread - Speculation
Since this whole saga actually does have to do with the Skywalkers despite Rey being here unless she's really a Skywalker, I cannot see Kennedy or Abrams having Kylo die unless he has a child with Rey somehow or during the time passage met a woman and had a child.

That or to give closure, this marks the end of the Skywalker bloodline

Re: Star Wars Episode IX thread - Speculation
I'm thinking with Snoke and Luke both dead, they bring in the Force like entities, and Luke has to Fight Snoke in the afterlife to save both of them. It would be cool to see the Force Realm, and thats why both died here. They need to confront each other in the only way they both are on even ground.

Re: Star Wars Episode IX thread - Speculation
TLJ kind of made Poe, Finn and Kylo Ren all bleh after the first one.
Say what you want about the prequels but they were at least coherently a trilogy. TFA and TLJ are completely night and day.

Re: Star Wars Episode IX thread - Speculation
What? Kylo is more interested after Last Jedi where as he was bland after Force Awakens. Also despite the flaws with the B plot, Ooe is more interesting too.
You have a point with Finn

Re: Star Wars Episode IX thread - Speculation
Poe was a forced beat.
Finn should have died, his romance to Rey was much more fluent in the series.
I got nothing with Kylo. He's not a character that should be driving the series. He is the most plot holed character, and now he doesn't work at all.

Re: Star Wars Episode IX thread - Speculation
Kylo is the only thing driving this now. Driver has been great. Maybe if Rey had flipped him or he flipped her would it be different then Rey flip back for #9.

Re: Star Wars Episode IX thread - Speculation
And that's not good if he is driving it, no pun intended. He is easily the weakest character of the series, because he is the most written, and he is horribly written.
The dynamic of Luke, Han, Leia, and Vader worked. Here Poe, Finn, Rey and Ren are not aligning. Ford and Chewie were still the highlights of TFA, Luke here.
Also, the ending here felt a lot like the end of Tomorrowland which was very awkward.

Re: Star Wars Episode IX thread - Speculation
I find Kylo 100x more interesting than I ever found Anikan. Vader is cool/great obviously, but even he did not have it in him to seize power from the emperor, even if he did have it in him to kill him. Ren is interesting because it seems he is more committed to his own power than to the dark side (or light side obviously). In that sense, he could be much more difficult or much more easy to "turn". It will be interesting to see how it goes.
That said: I feel there is far too much for them to wrap up in one film. Part 3 should really be a 2 parter.
